ABOUT ME/MY EXPERIENCE:

I will treat your pets with the same care as if they were my own.

I love animals. All kinds.

I am kind, patient, compassionate, detailed, and professional.

I believe pet sitting is about establishing respectful relationships with the pets and their pawrents. The importance of establishing trust and nurturing a feeling of safety for everyone involved, including the animals, cannot be understated. I have fostered dogs and kittens and find this process incredibly rewarding.

Fully vaxxed and prepared to follow any additional precautions to ensure you feel comfortable and safe allowing me into your home.

ABOUT ME/MY EXPERIENCE:

My current pack includes:
- Mack, a 90lb boxer-mix rescue...foster-“fail,” who thinks he’s part human and part cat.
- Cheese, a female orange tabby who thinks she’s part dog, and her brother Brent, a gray tabby.
Brent and Cheese are littermates. We rescued them, along with their 3 other siblings, from the storm drain outside of my apartment in April 2022 – Mom and Dad were rescued (TNR) too, and I fostered and socialized all 5 kittens until they were adopted.
- CeCe, a 6-year old tortie. She is as sweet as can be, but full of “tortitude” and is not thrilled to have gone from being an “only-cat” to having a dog, 2 other kitties, and a human-toddler as roommates.

I got my first kitten, Muffin, when I was 4-years-old. As I sat on the floor of my bedroom with the tiny kitten on a pillow in my lap, I looked up at my mom and, through tears of joy, exclaimed, “now we are a real family!” My mom and I had just moved into our new home after my parents’ divorce. Muffin lived to be 15.

In my adult life, I have owned mostly dogs but have always known I would get another kitty. My two boxers, Millie and Ozzy, were with me from 2008 until 2018 and 2019. They would have made life hell for any kitty, so it was dogs only for a while. Over the years, I established a very close relationship with my vet, to the point that she gave me her cell number, and I can still text her as needed (I’m careful not to abuse the privilege).

In 2018 I began fostering dogs through a boxer rescue (that's where Mack came from). In addition to finding my foster dogs the most perfect families/homes (I was very selective), I also managed the marketing and social media for the rescue and wrote the dog bios for the website. Every animal is unique and has a story to tell. I loved getting to know each animal and working with the foster parents to draw out the details of each foster dog's dynamic personality so I could tell their compelling story.

In April 2022 I found myself engaged in the week-long rescue of a kitty family from the storm drain outside my apartment in Manchester. After trapping Momma, all 5 kittens, and a bonus adult-male kitty (Dad we think), I fostered and socialized the kittens until they found homes.

IN RE: TO MEDICAL NEEDS:

**If medicine needs to be given, please ensure you have scheduled enough time based on your cats needs.**

My two boxers had a multitude of medical needs I’ve managed, including diapering my boxer pup her entire life. I have administered all kinds of medications and managed wound care. I also spent several years working in the medical field, and while not officially “trained,” I have drawn blood on humans (successfully, and with their consent of course) a handful of times. If your kitties have any special medical needs/accommodations, I am happy to discuss to determine whether I will be the best fit.

SOME SCHEDULING TIPS:

I have received lots of questions about appropriate visit length and would like to offer some tips/advice to consider when making your reservations.

- If you are not sure how much time to schedule, time yourself going through your care routine (feeding, watering, cleaning litter boxes, and medicating if necessary).

- If your kitties are super social or like a lot of attention, or you are going to be gone for an extended time, make sure there is enough time for some play time and cuddles (if they like that sort of thing) after the care routine.

Things that might require longer visits: you have more than two cats, your kitties need special treatment, special feeding routines, or medications - please realistically consider how much time is needed.

- Giving medications may already be stressful for your kitties, so it’s important to make sure there is enough time to ensure they are as comfortable as possible.

- If your cat has a special diet and can’t be left with food out, make sure there is enough time for your cat to finish their meal.

- Is your kitty super shy, but also craves attention? Make sure there is enough time for them to warm up.

- Do you have more than one cat? Do they play together, or do they prefer individual attention/play time?

DISCOUNTS:
- I offer discounts based on travel time/distance.
- These discounts are not valid with other Meowtel sitters.
- Discounts cannot be applied retroactively. You must get a code from me to apply when making your reservation.
- If you’d like to know more, send me a message including your address, and I’d be happy to see if you will qualify.

Katherine was so attentive to my kitties needs. She is a great communicator, provides detailed reports and awesome images/videos of her visits. Even a “proof of life” for my cat that hides. I would definitely recommend her.

I couldn’t have wished for a better cat sitter. my senior cat is a picky eater and Kat went above and beyond to make sure he had lots of food options, plenty of water, and was taking his kidney supplement. My cat also loves the outdoors, so each day she opened the window for him to get fresh air.

Katherine was incredible! I felt like I was still home with my babies because of all the great videos and photos. It really felt like she liked our cats and worked to get o know them too, commenting on their quirks :) She followed our instructions exactly, left our home pristine, and communicated clearly. We will most definitely be booking her again!

Kat was terrific! We highly recommend her. Having recently moved, we knew we’d have to trust a stranger with our beloved kitty. Our concerns were put to rest as soon as we met Kat. At the meet and greet, our normally shy cat, warmed up to her right away. While we were away, she followed all of our instructions for litter boxes and feeding. She sent a lot of photos and videos each day, so we saw our kitty was happy and well cared for. It really helped us not miss him, as much. We would definitely hire Kat again.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Richmond cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
