What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have 50 years experience with kitties both personally and raising spectacular kittens for adoption. I have experience from neonates to senior kitties. I am a recently retired, TICA registered Highlander cat breeder.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I enjoy developing a relationship with each individual kitty. There are those high energy youngsters who want to play, play, play and need to learn some social skills. There are the shy ones. There are the ones who might have a special health issue and need different attention. To work with cats, one must think like a cat. Sometimes you have to ask a cat, why are you doing this, not in a mean way, just to try to understand. One of the things I have enjoyed most about dealing with cats, is getting to know each Cat Mom or Dad and family. It's a Cat Thing.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I have loved every kitty sitting appointment! But something that makes me feel good is when a Cat Pawrent is out of town and gets stuck out of town longer than planned, and contacts me to see if I can possibly take care of their purrrescious kitties longer. I know how I would feel if one I was stuck away from my beloved fur babies even longer, but then terrified no one would be available to take care of them when I couldn't get back. It makes me happy knowing that I am loved and trusted by both kitties and pet pawrents. And I can be there for them. 🩷😺

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Lucy, Neptune, Peanut, Tippy and Smoochie I currently have 5, but I have had more.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I will follow all directions from the Cat Pawrents. Make sure the kitties can not get out of the home when I enter or exit. If there is any concern about the kitties or the home, I will contact the Cat Pawrents immediately.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes, I am usually available during holidays and the days leading up to and following them. I don't travel away for the holidays. If I work, I still have hours available for pet sitting.

What is your favorite cat toy?

Paper balls, crumpled up paper. My cats also love track ball toys, and an automated realistic butterfly toy with random motions

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I speak to the cats and communicate with them. I let them take the lead. But I also approach them with kindness, compassion, a quiet friendly voice and hospitality.
