Cat Sitting in Nooksack, WA
As someone who only believes in positive reinforcement, I am gentle and loving during all my interactions with animals... I have cherished and lived with cats for almost my entire life. For the last 9 years, I have raised 4 cats from the time they were about 10 weeks old. For the past 5 years, I have raised them with a dog in the house. They are my entire world, which is why I would be a great cat sitter: I would treat your cat(s) as my entire world while I am with them. I truly enjoy cats and their unique personalities. Whether they are playful or sleepy, shy or extroverted, loud or quiet, one of my favorite things is figuring out what makes them happy.
As someone who only believes in positive reinforcement, I am gentle and loving during all my interactions with animals. I love using feather toys and crinkle balls to play with my pets, depending on what they enjoy; one adores twist-ties while another goes nuts for the stick end of wand toys. With 4 unique personalities to keep satisfied, I know how to tailor my approach to each individual cat and how to navigate the sometimes tricky social hierarchy of multiple cat homes. Since one of my cats has asthma, I also have experience in giving pills and using an inhaler.
A life-long animal-lover with a master’s degree in social work, I have always been drawn to the human-animal bond and made it my focus while in school, which means I’ve got the background to be a trustworthy and knowledgeable sitter. I’ve also volunteered with various animal-centered organizations, including my local humane society in the cattery, cleaning cages, emptying litter boxes, and providing care to cats.
I am located in Nooksack but don't mind traveling to the surrounding areas.
I am a SAHM to a one year old so that does impact my flexibility.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have 4 cats. My husband and I each had two cats before we got married and combined households. Lilo is the oldest and friendliest; she loves her tail scratched. Pepper is the biggest and loves chasing bee toys and jumping up high. Brooke was my first kitty; she is a marshmallow who hates the vet. Duke is the youngest and loves eating anything he can get into, especially breads.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Make sure you agree with their philosophy on caring for animals, ie someone who only uses positive reinforcement. Then make sure you're comfortable with them and trust they'll take good care of your kitty. Lastly, but certainly not least, make sure your cat trusts them.
What is your favorite cat toy?
A wand toy with a ribbon attached. It can be used in a variety of ways to engage cat curiosity.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
In general, I stay very low-key and gentle, using a soft voice and slow motions so not to alarm them. Sitting in the room with them and reading aloud has been very successful with gaining the confidence of most timid kitties. If it's ok with the cat parent(s), I'll try offering treats and will follow any other tips they suggest.

Amber was beyond communicative and responsive. I felt really secure knowing that Amber was showing up exactly when she said she would and she documented everything she was doing with picture and video. Beyond that, she genuinely seemed to show affection for my cats. Couldn't have asked for a better pet sitter!

Amber went above and beyond as a pet sitter! She watered my plants, got my mail, and updated me on any notices left on my door by my landlord. My cat adored her and she sent tons of photos of him rolling around, playing, and enjoying her company! It was amazing knowing that my cat was safe and happy while I was away.

My cat, Bella, is shy and normally runs to the upstairs closet when someone comes to the front door. Bella stayed in the closet the first day and Amber sat in the closet and talked to and brushed Bella. Amber was very patient with Bella and sent me pictures on my ***** everyday. Amazingly, Bella eventually went downstairs with Amber to eat. Thanks to Amber's patience, Bella was calm and well fed when I returned from my trip. I will ask Amber to watch Bella in the future and it makes me happy to know I have a great, compassionate cat sitter.

Loved Amber! She got along so well with our cats. She was on time for every visit and sent me honest feedback about how it went. We got pictures everyday and a few videos here and there. She showed up and took detailed notes to ensure she was feeding them correctly. She even offered to grab our mail and run our trash. We are moving soon otherwise i'd say I would use her every time!

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th
- September 4-10: Labor Day
- October 9-15: Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Nooksack cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $24.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
