Since I just graduated medical school & am taking some time off to study for medical boards/licensing this summer, I wanted to make use of some spare time to help take care of other kitties! As many of you know, any degree in the medical field is 💰💰💰, so I am hoping to earn some extra pocket change by cat sitting!
Bonus: I have a wide variety of medical experience with giving pill/liquid medication, otic ear & eye drops, administering syringe injectable medications, inhalers, etc). 😻

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
I would advice all client /customers to do your due diligence & ask questions / ensure all necessary instructions can be followed in order to make sure you feel comfortable entrusting your cat/kitty with any cat sitter! I know I get really nervous trusting any new sitter & it took many trial & errors to give the next sitter a comprehensive list of instructions before I felt comfortable leaving my Nala for multiple days with any new sitter. I also appreciate daily reports and/or pictures, so would be happy to do the same if requested :)
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
With a new cat parent/client, I would like some descriptions of their cat’s personality, temperament, likes/dislikes, their cat’s favorite toys vs things to definitely avoid. I would like to request written instructions by the parents for anything in specific (medication dose, frequency, if it needs to be given via injection/inhaler/mixed with a particular food/etc; feeding schedule; litter box cleaning schedule; allergies to avoid; any other specific instructions!). But most of all, I would like to get to know their kitty/cat and hope to make some feline friends 😻

Jolie was so sweet and attentive to our 2 cats during a long vacation! She provided adorable pics and detailed updates for us throughout. Our cats were happy to be home and we were thrilled with their care. We were initially nervous about leaving our cats at home because we typically board them. But on our pre-meet, the cats were instantly drawn to Jolie and she really put us at ease with her natural calmness and we felt confident our cats would receive great care. We appreciated that she checked on food levels in our auto-feeder and would let us know how the cats’ appetites and demeanor were in our absence. We will definitely be using Jolie in the future! Our girls will be happy to see her again!

But Jolie's years of experience in cat sitting and quick bond with my cat helped me feel so much better about leaving her for a week. We went on vacation for under a week and Jolie took care of our baby boy while we were gone. She was kind and easygoing during our meet and greet and took her time acclimating him with treats and toys. When we returned, our cat was happy, well fed, and clean. Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th
- September 4-10: Labor Day

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Olympia cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Jolie was great with the cats. She spent time petting and playing with them and cleaning up after them as needed. This is actually different than most cat sitters I have had who just spent the time on their phones.
