Including the fosters (which my family decided to adopt), I have personally looked after 11 cats over the years and enjoy meeting new kitties through Meowtel as well. What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
To put it simply, I really just adore cats! I've always had cats and they've always had me. I like the process of befriending a new kitty and enjoy the challenge of earning their trust. I also appreciate the opportunity to continue interacting with cats despite recently losing my own.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I unfortunately just lost my childhood cat, Muffin, after 16 years together. I hope to adopt another cat after some time.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
I earnestly recommend that you choose a sitter whose personality resonates with you. By doing so, your cat may be put at ease by this sense of familiarity. You can start to figure this out by connecting with a sitter before you book! If you like the way your conversation is going, then you can organize a free meet and greet to make the final determination of whether it's a good fit.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
Should you choose me as your sitter, our meet-and-greet is where we will go over logistics and expectations. I'll notate these details in a log for reference during my drop-in. While our intake should be a comprehensive discussion about your needs and my services, it's naturally possible we overlook something. But don't worry! You should be confident that I won't ever just "guess," I'll ask! You know your cat best and I'll lead with your judgement.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
As a former security guard, I take home security very seriously! I make it routine to do an initial sweep of the (allowed areas) of the home upon entry and do so again before I leave. I check to ensure all faucets are off, all forbidden areas are kept inaccessible to the cats, and all doors are locked on my way out. There isn't a thing out of place that I won't notice. I also pay close attention to the feeding, drinking, and litter habits of the cats during my visits. You can count on me to address any irregularities so that we can work together to decide what to do.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
For timid cats, I like to let them set the pace. I understand that my mood sets the tone for perceptive critters like cats, so I make efforts to establish the correct mood beforehand. Impatience often turns animals away, so I don't rush things. I find it helpful to lay/sit on the floor, leave shoes or a sweater out for them to sniff, and to offer treats.

We have two cats, one of whom is a senior and needs several medications. Steffi came for a consultation so she could meet the cats and I could show her the multi-step process of food+medication. She paid close attention and took notes, and soon enough, the cats came over to meet her while we talked. When we were away, Steffi took pictures and sent detailed notes of everything she did. It was clear just from the photos that the cats were happy to see her! We don't travel often, but the next time we do, we'll be booking Steffi again. It was a great comfort to know our cats were being well cared for!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.
If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.
Spokane cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!

Steffi took such good care of my two cats, one of which needed daily medication. She also watered my garden, which usually dies when I go on vacation and can't water regularly. Short answer.....Steffi does a fantastic job!!! I was recently gone for 2 weeks....the longest I've been away from my cat. Being away that long becomes much easier when I know Steffi is taking care of my cat, Niner. She also communicates every day and sends a few pictures of your pet!
