Kristy's Cat Care In Vancouver

I'm Kristy

Cat Sitting in Vancouver, WA

My name is Kristy and I was raised a cat person. My parents had cats for my entire life, and my priority day one of moving out was to get my own cat. I still have that cat, her name is Nyx, and I have added to my cat hoard ever since. At the moment my wife and I have seven cats, (Nyx, Toaster, Spock, Shuri, Artemis, Dopey, and Sven) which is the maximum we want, but cat sitting lets me be around even more cats without adopting them. If you're wondering, the cat with the candy corn tie in my pictures is Toaster. I like to read and write, and I can usually be found curled up with a cat and a blanket somewhere.

Two of our cats have medical conditions that I have to give them care for, and I have also done cat sitting for a cat with asthma so I have experience with a wide range of potential issues...

Two of our cats have medical conditions that I have to give them care for, and I have also done cat sitting for a cat with asthma so I have experience with a wide range of potential issues. One of my cats has kidney disease, so he has to have special food which means I have to be well practiced in making sure no one else eats his special food. Two of our cats are old enough to need joint supplements, so I give them pills for that. None of our cats are asthmatic, but I am a frequent sitter for a friend who has an asthmatic cat and I know how to give him his inhaler. In the course of my time having cats, I have also had to give many oral medications as well as some ear drops.

I've also volunteered at the Humane Society for seven years, always in the cat area, so I have a good amount of experience with cats of all different comfort levels with humans. Tasks at the Humane Society usually included litter boxes, water, food, and general socialization.

I'm happy to work with you to arrange the best care for your kitties. Every visit will include food and water refill, litter box cleaning, photo updates, any necessary medications, and plenty of time just loving on your cats. I am also happy to do small tasks like watering plants or bringing in mail as long as you let me know you want that.

Learn More About Kristy

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been cat sitting for around twenty years now in total, though some of that was as a teenager and in a less official capacity. On Meowtel as an official job I've been doing it for three years.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I enjoy being able to just spend time with cats and get paid for it! I also love being able to win the trust of a skittish cat, which always feel like a huge success.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Make sure you align on your communication desires before the sit happens. If you want a specific number of pictures of there's some specific detail you want to make sure they tell you in every update, be sure to let the sitter know that so you don't wind up stressed when you aren't getting what you wanted.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I schedule a meet and greet, usually a week or so out from the sit, so I can gather all the details I need; meet the cats; and learn where things are like the food and litter boxes.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I often find myself just laying on the floor near whatever piece of furniture they hang out under. I want them to know that there's company available if they want it, but I never pressure them into getting love they don't want. Consent isn't just important for humans!

Kristy went above and beyond to care for my 4 cats as well as extracurricular babies. She made sure to send me a plethora of photo updates of my shy cats, social cats and difficult to photograph fish. She also went out of her way to take extra care to open and close windows around 4th of July so my babies could have a breeze but wouldn't be upset by neighborhood noises over the holiday. ♡ She was extremely attentive and responsive during our time away. Thank you!

Kristy was great with our cat, Gnarwal, who is over 20 years old! She gave her medicine every day and even though Gnarwal is a shy cat, she walked right up to Kristy the day that she met her. Kristy communicated very well and sent lots of pictures. She really made our anxiety about leaving our elderly cat to visit our elderly people go away.

Kristy was an amazing cat sitter. We have six cats all with unique personalities and dynamics. She did such a fantastic job checking in on each and every one of them, making sure they had play time, treats, and cuddles every visit! We loved getting wonderful photos and updates which helped us relax ans enjoy our vacation even more knowing our cats were in great hands!

Kristy is awesome! My boys can be shy and they love her. She's able to do both their medication (one needs insulin, one needs an inhaler) and I'm so appreciative of her availability and kindness.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Vancouver cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
