What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Earning a cat’s trust. Every cat has their own timeline, their own tests. The moment a skeptical cat decides you’re okay — that slow walk across the room, that first head bump — that’s the whole thing right there.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

Once I kept a cat named Mr. Jinx for my fiancée’s parents. He was an escape artist who slipped out quietly while I had an upstairs window open. Not wanting to lose the faith and trust of my soon-to-be in-laws, I panicked just before they arrived home. I went to the shelter looking for Jinx and found a cat who looked almost identical to him except for having a white spot on its tail. Panicking, I spray-painted his tail as a temporary solution until I found the real Mr. Jinx … Wait, that’s the plot to Meet the Parents. I will do a much better job than Greg Focker. I’ll be honest — I’m newer to formal cat sitting, but I’ve been the go-to person in my circle for years when someone needs a trusted set of eyes on their cat.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have two — Kevin, an 8-year-old who has fully settled into his role as household senior statesman, and Nibs, a 2-year-old who is still convinced that 3am is the correct time for everything. They’ve taught me more about cat behavior than I could have learned any other way, and they keep me well-trained. I’ve been a cat dad for years and have informally looked after friends’ and neighbors’ cats for as long as I can remember. Cats have always been part of my life, and caring for them comes as naturally as anything I do.

Cancellation Policy

Cat parents may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a full refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Cat parents will receive a full refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Cat parents will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the cat parent cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
