Speaking cat means understanding when they need space, when they want attention, or when they’re giving me that look that says “I won’t make biscuits on you, but I will on the bed.” I’m experienced administering medications including pills and inhalers for asthma.
For anxious kitties, I move and speak slowly, keep the area quiet, and use slow blinks to build trust. For playful ones, I bring engaging toys and a light device that most kitties love chasing. I send daily photo and video updates so you always know your fur baby is happy and well-cared for. I love giving pet parents peace of mind. I ask lots of questions before each visit because my main goal is your cat’s safety, comfort, and happiness while under my care.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve cat sitting for 10 years now. It all started when I grew up caring for street kitties. I also volunteered at a cat socialization room preparing them for adoption and find their forever rooms. My love for kitties grew bigger and my cat sitting journey started, taking care of my neighbors cats or by recommendations from the people who adopted the kitties from the animal shelter I volunteered at. I truly learned to understand their behavior and body language. Now, I live with my own kittie, Frejya. Over the years, I’ve cared for anxious cats, playful kitties, gentle seniors and cats with special needs like asthma. Each one has taught me something new about speaking their language.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
Building trust with them, learning their routines, their quirks. I enjoyed when a shy kitty comes out sit near me or earning biscuits.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
Maui and Buddy two beautiful kitties with completely different personalities they were both bonded. Maui was very shy while Buddy was extremely confident and showcased a lot of love since the beginning. I started the laser light and Buddy loved but Maui was not interested in playing with the light. She would watch us play but didn’t want to engage, I gave her space. I noticed that she would watch me doing chores around my house and she seemed very intrigued. I have a handmade dress with little bakks all over it, it is a very colorful dress. I put the dress on my bed and she sat on it, at that moment I stated blinking at her and she came to me, then left. Later that day, while I was on my computer she jumped on my lap and started purring, it was a very loving moment.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Birmingham cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
