Generally, how I approach a cat for the first time is learning their “tells”—their likes and don’t likes, their individual personalities and habits, etc. I’m not afraid to try out different things (petting them, playing with them, giving them treats), but I also don’t want to overwhelm them, and so in every situation, I like to let the cat lead. Establishing trust—making the cat feel safe—is number one in cat sitting.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve been catsitting for one family for over five years now, and another family for several months. Both they and their felines are like family to me.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I used to have two cats, Francesca and Gypsie, but sadly they’ve both passed away. I had 19 wonderful years with Francesca and 16 with Gypsie. Their lives were filled with love, and they gave it back tenfold.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
When meeting your potential cat sitter, don’t just look at their profiles—let them meet and watch how they interact with your cats, because that is key. You want your cats to feel safe. If they feel safe, you’ll feel safe and confident leaving them in that person’s care.

Amber is fantastic! She met with us at our home a few days prior to us leaving town for our vacation and went through all the care items for our kitties. When she arrived at our house to take care of the kitties, she would provide us with updates and pictures. She was also very prompt in asking any questions as they arose. Amber was so good to our three cats and they really enjoyed her company. I highly recommend Amber!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Madison cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $22.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Amber has been our most trusted and first choice cat sitter since 2019. We have 4 cats who are not always the easiest or friendliest cats. Even though they are sweet they are also moody, and she loves them unconditionally. She loves cats and enjoys being around them and taking care of them. She is patient and very good at communicating for updates and accountability. I trust her coming to my house and making sure our litterbox is clean, cats are fed and water fountain topped off.
