What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I grew up helping with neighborhood cats and dogs. I had to IV fluids into a geriatric cat. I also raised stray kittens found in a window well and found them all homes, including their young mom who became a mouser at a local barn! [so approximately 17 years if you could watching neighbors pets in middle school]

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have 2 at the moment, Jethro Gibbs and Sasuke. They were found in a trash can during Covid at only 4 weeks old but are my best friends. They are surprisingly around, like in wanting to always be attached at my hip and play or nap on me. One is great with people and wants to make all the friends. The other is very shy and scared and doesn’t like ‘new’ in any form and glares from across the room at guests.

Are you usually available during holidays?

I am unfortunately not around this year for Labor Day, nor Thanksgiving or Christmas as I will be with my family back in the Midwest, but I am around most other federal holidays!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

One of my cats is very loving with me but terrified of life. He hisses when a shoe moves into a place he didn’t know it would be. He hides whenever guests are over. For your cats, I would want your desires to be known, if you want me to try to befriend them, calm, slow movements and trying to let them smell me. I can bring a book and exist in their space. I can lure them with treats if you want. The big thing is not being a loud or fast moving new item into their space. I don’t want to stress them out but in my heart I hope they will eventually want to be my friend or at least tolerate my presence in their territory.

It's always tough having to choose a cat sitter - even harder when having to choose a new one after moving. Thankfully Laura turned out to be fantastic. She has a cat similar in personality to mine, making adjusting easy. She keeps fantastically detailed notes making planning, and then being away from home, really easy and stress free. Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.

For reservations where each visit is at or above $20 and paid for through Meowtel, your cat(s) will automatically be covered under our insurance policy in the event that things don't go as planned.
