What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I began cat-sitting for Meowtel during the pandemic, and worked through approximately October of 2023. I took a break to focus on my full-time job at the time, but while at Meowtel, I cared for kitties throughout the Berkeley, Albany and Oakland area. For several years prior to joining Meowtel, I regularly cat-sat for friends in the Bay Area, and still do. While growing up, my family and I had cats who we treated as family. We would do anything for them, and I am still this way toward the kitties I care for.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I just can’t even tell you how much I love cats, so just spending time with them and being with them makes my heart leap with joy. I deal with serious subjects during my full-time job as a therapist, so cat sitting is mutually therapeutic - I take care of them, and they absolutely take care of me :)

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

I would recommend making a point to meet the potential cat-sitter first (either virtually or in-person, ideally), walk them through what your needs are and the important aspects of your home (how to get in, lock-up, etc) and while asking common-sense questions about the cat sitter’s experience, just trust your gut. Ask yourself what vibe you’re getting from this person - are they kind? Gentle? Honest? Skills aside, I would recommend asking yourself if your cat-sitter seems to be a kind and gentle person (who will also remember to lock the door on their way out 😂).

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.

For reservations where each visit is at or above $20 and paid for through Meowtel, your cat(s) will automatically be covered under our insurance policy in the event that things don't go as planned.
