What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been cat sitting for friends, family, and clients for over 10 years. I’m truly a cat person through and through. Most of my day revolves around cats in one way or another, whether I’m caring for them, writing about them, or learning more about how to support their well-being.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

What I enjoy most about cat sitting is getting to know each cat as an individual and earning their trust over time. I love learning their routines, personalities, and little quirks, and helping them feel comfortable and safe while their people are away. Plus, spending time with cats is genuinely my idea of a good time!

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

One of my favorite cat-sitting experiences was with a very shy cat (Sammy) who, I was told, would not come out for anyone but her owner. By my third visit, she was rolling over and happily accepting belly pets! Her owner was shocked by the photos and videos I sent, and it was incredibly rewarding to see that level of trust develop so quickly.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have four cats: Jax, Sadie, Cosmos, and Dede. They are all rescues and I love them so much 🥹

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

It’s important to choose someone who communicates clearly and takes the time to do a meet-and-greet because, as any cat parent knows, there are always lots of little details that matter!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

My typical process starts with a meet-and-greet so I can learn about your cat’s personality, routine, health needs, and preferences. I ask detailed questions about feeding, litter habits, play style, medications (if any), and what helps your cat feel most comfortable while you’re away.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I ensure safety and security by closely following the cat’s routine and all care instructions provided by the owner. I’m especially careful when entering and exiting the home to prevent any cats from slipping out, and I always double-check doors and locks. I also do a quick scan of the home during each visit to make sure your cat hasn’t gotten into anything harmful or gained access to something unsafe. If I notice anything unusual with your cat’s behavior, appearance, or the home environment, I notify the owner right away and take appropriate action as needed.

What is your favorite cat toy?

My favorite cat toys are the humble crinkle ball and spring toy. They’re simple and affordable, but cats tend to love them!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I handle timid or anxious cats by letting them set the pace and never forcing interaction. I move slowly, speak softly, and stick closely to their routine to help them feel safe. I pay close attention to body language and use gentle encouragement, such as play or treats if appropriate, while respecting their space
