I’m Melissa, and I’ve been an animal lover my entire life. I grew up with dogs, currently care for my 7-year-old Sulcata tortoise, and have also owned fish over the years. While I know every pet has its own personality, I believe patience, consistency, and kindness go a long way in helping animals feel comfortable and safe.
I understand how important it is to know your pets are in caring, reliable hands while you’re away. During each visit, I’ll make sure your cat has fresh food and water, a clean litter box, plenty of attention (if they want it!), and I’ll keep an eye on their overall well-being. Whether your cat is playful and social or prefers quiet companionship, I’m happy to meet them where they’re comfortable.
I pride myself on being dependable, detail-oriented, and an excellent communicator. I’ll send updates and photos so you can relax knowing your cat is happy and well cared for while you’re away.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
What I enjoy most is getting to know each cat’s unique personality. Some are playful and social, while others are quiet and independent, and I love earning their trust at their own pace. It’s rewarding to know I’m helping both the cat and their owner by providing dependable care and giving pet parents peace of mind while they’re away.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
My process starts with getting to know both the cat and their owner. Before the first visit, I like to discuss the cat’s routine, feeding schedule, medications (if any), favorite toys, hiding spots, personality, and any special instructions. I also ask about emergency contacts and the veterinarian’s information. During each visit, I make sure their basic needs are met, spend quality time with them based on their comfort level, and send updates with photos so the owner has peace of mind. My goal is to keep their cat’s routine as consistent and stress-free as possible while they’re away.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Every cat is different, and I let them set the pace. I never force interaction and always approach calmly and patiently. I’ll make sure they have fresh food, water, and a clean litter box while giving them the space they need to feel safe. If they want affection or playtime, I’m happy to engage, and if they prefer quiet companionship, I respect that. My goal is always to help them feel comfortable and secure while their family is away.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
