What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve been caring for cats both professionally and personally for over five years. I have 4 kitties of my own! In addition to working in veterinary medicine, where I handle and monitor cats daily, I’ve also worked in pet sitting and dog walking roles that included cat care. Through these experiences I’ve cared for cats with many different personalities and needs, including shy cats, senior cats, and cats who require medication. (I love them all). My veterinary background has helped me become very comfortable recognizing cat behavior, monitoring for potential health concerns, and making sure cats stay comfortable and stress-free while their owners are away. I really enjoy building trust with each cat and adapting my care to their individual personality and routine
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
What I enjoy most about cat sitting is getting to know each cat’s unique personality. Every cat is different! Some are playful and curious, and some are shy or more independent and I love taking the time to build trust with them at their own pace. Working in veterinary medicine has given me a lot of experience with different types of cats, and I really enjoy creating a calm and comfortable environment for them while their owners are away. It’s very rewarding for me to see a shy cat slowly warm up or a playful cat look forward to our visits❤️
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I always move slowly and allow them to approach me on their own terms. I have some nervous kitties myself. I never force interaction and instead focus on creating a calm and predictable environment during each visit. Through my experience in veterinary medicine, I’ve learned how important it is to read a cat’s body language and respect their boundaries! Cats have their own preferences, and I’m always happy to adapt to what makes them feel most comfortable. Over time I’ve seen that many shy cats begin to feel more relaxed once they realize their routine is consistent and that I respect their space.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.
