What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been paid to cat sit for 8 years. I have had cats all my life since I was a toddler. The owners give me a list of feeding times and snack times and show me the litter box, play toys, food and favorite snuggle spots. I bring my notebook with me. Before I leave I always make sure all cats are accounted for and that no one feels left out. I watched one family’s cats where one of the cats was shy and he came to love me and play the wand with me. Some families I brought in their mail and watered their plants and fed their outdoor birds. I follow instructions exactly and make sure I have the vets number for emergency, plus I make sure to lock the door and keep your key or code and cats safe.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I enjoy getting to know each cats personality. I love it when the shy ones come out from under the bed to say hi. My favorite thing is when a fur baby greets me at the door, follows me around and hangs out with me to play and cuddle. I also talk to cats and sit next to them to play and pet them while they purr.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

Yes the one with the three cats. The parents regularly go on vacation and I go to spend 45 minutes every other day taking care of their needs. Two of the cats have playful energy, one is older and just sleeps but she gets up to say hi and get some love and pets. I love playing and cuddling with each one. I make sure they get all their energy out with play while also having quiet time for them to rest in the sun by the window or in front of the door looking out.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Her name is Willow and she is a rescue. She is 4 now. She is a loving domestic short hair tuxedo cat. She drools when she’s super happy, purrs and makes biscuits on me. She also sleeps on top of me at night.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Make sure you feel a comfortable, warm vibe when you meet the sitter. See how the sitter interacts with you cat and your cats reactions. Make sure they take notes of your detailed instructions and that they have your vets number in case of emergency.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I meet the pet parents and the cats. I make sure I know all the fine details of what makes their cat happy, relaxed and comfortable. I ask for the food times the snack times, water bowl, sponge and dish soap plus litter and extra bag of litter. I need to know where their favorite toys and sleeping spots are plus the key code or key. I have a check list and I am very detail oriented.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I never open the door to anyone. I keep track of where the cat is at all times. When I leave I make sure to lock the door and make sure the cat is far from the door when I leave.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes I am available all holidays. I always send pictures, videos and message updates daily. Just reach out to me and I will be there for your cats comfort and your peace of mind.

What is your favorite cat toy?

My cat loves the wand and the twisting springs and the toy that looks like a bow for a present. She also loves the toy that moves and interacts with her. Plus she loves laying on me and making biscuits so basically I’m her favorite toy😊

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I don’t rush the interaction. I sit down so I’m at the cats level and speak softly. Then I sit back and they usually will slowly come to me.
