Background and Experience
Both Kareem and I have had feline companions for more than 20 years. We've taken care of cats in all stages of their lives, from bottle-fed kittens to senior kitties with special needs. We've even successfully trained a cat to use the toilet! We both have experience administering medications in liquid form (ex. Clavamox) form as well as topical medications (ex. Mirataz or flea treatments). However, I (Laura) also have experience giving pills (ex. Famotidine) and asthma medication (Flovent, an inhalant) using a special device for cats called an AeroKat. Sadly, I’ve had two cats succumb to kidney disease so I’ve also learned how to administer subcutaneous fluids.
Beyond caring for our own cats, we've volunteered for trap-release-neuter programs to help protect community cats. We've humanely trapped and transported community cats to their spay/neuter appointments and helped get kittens adopted... Hello, fellow cat lovers! This is Laura. My husband, Kareem, and I look forward to providing your fur babies with top-notch care.

We genuinely just love cats, even the stray I caught peeing on my car’s windshield. What a rascal! They truly are unique and often hilarious. Whether they’re your cherished companion or a street cat, we just feel an affection for them and a desire to keep them safe.
Since we lost our fur baby, Milk, a beautiful 18-year-old kitty that we loved dearly (check out our gallery to see her sitting in front of a painting of her and my first cat, Oreo) we haven't been ready to adopt another cat yet but we really miss being around that feline energy. More than a job, we sincerely enjoy spending time with them and enjoy the little quirks they each have. We will treat your kitties as if they are our own cats!
Caring for Your Cats
Keeping their unique personalities in mind, we want to provide an environment where your cats can feel secure and content during your absence. Whether they prefer play, cuddles, or to be left alone, we will adapt our style of care accordingly, ensuring a comfortable experience for them. We will always enter the house carefully, holding their safety in mind at all times, and will follow all your instructions to a T. Please don’t feel self-conscious about being specific about their care or having a long list of instructions - we understand, completely.
Additional Info and Availability
I work as a professor, teaching chemistry at a community college, and have summers and winters off so my availability is wide open during many important holidays. Other than that, I'm a homebody that loves art, knitting, and roller skating. Kareem is a musician who is often working from home. He's an avid surfer, science fiction fan, and excellent cat cuddler.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
Beyond hanging out with your cat(s), our favorite part is getting an adorable or funny picture of them to send to you.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
We recognize that a lot of cats are escape artists so we always enter the home carefully to make sure they don’t run out. Any doors that are meant to stay closed will remain closed. We also note if anything is potentially dangerous or out of place such as bags, cords, strings, or anything they shouldn’t have access to.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes, our family live in the area so we're almost always around for major holidays.
What is your favorite cat toy?
It’s gotta’ be the laser pointer.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Our cat was very shy so we are careful to interact with them on their own terms and never force it. If your cat prefers to hide, we would just want to put eyes on them to ensure they're OK but we won't make them come out if they feel scared to.

Our older cat is shy and grumpy and I was worried the most about him but Laura was able to give him his medication daily and he was already greeting her at the door by the second visit! Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Long Beach cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $33.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

Laura is amazing! reliable, punctual, detail oriented and has a calm demeanor that our cats respond in a very positive way. She goes above and beyond making sure each cat has their food ( the have different diets) and medicine and even helped me bring a package inside. Cats sometimes vomit and she always cleans after them. we love her and will definitely book her again when needed.

Laura was fantastic!!! This was the first time I booked her to care for my 3 fur babies. She followed my instructions 100% and It did not take long for the Cats to warm up to her and welcome her at the door every time she came in. Two of my cats needs medication daily and she executed with no problem ( that was impressive). Even I have to chase them when I do it lol She was kind, punctual, polite, professional and provided very detail updates! She even collected my mail and helped bring some deliveries inside the house. I will definitely book her again because I know I can have piece of mind knowing she will take care of them as if they were hers. I highly recommend Laura.
