Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
I have a client who travels monthly for work and over the past 3 years I have had the pleasure of getting to know and bond with her cats. Sammy is the most timid and it took 6 months of visits before he ever let me pet him. His mom said it took him nearly 2 years to feel comfortable with her. The eldest Ferdinand always left me a poop trail leading out of the litter box. When he crossed the rainbow bridge, she adopted 2 abandoned kittens. I have seen these boys come out of survival mode and completely open up with personality and affection since coming into this home. The 3 boys are the highlight of my month and what pushed me to explore cat sitting separate from petsitting.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
My advice would be to give an honest rundown of your cats routine. If you sing a song or do a dance or hold them like a baby to comfort them at a certain time of day inform the sitter because I have seen many act out when the sitter deviates from their idea of a normal day! I always say I’d rather have too much information than not enough :)
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I always conduct a meet & greet before agreeing to a booking so I can have an in person run through of the parents expectations and locations of feedings, cleaning supplies, medications, etc. I find that when the cat is able to see the parent and sitter interact they are less likely to have a negative reaction to the first official booking. During this meeting, I can ask any questions that come up in real time and answer any questions the parents might have. My goal is for both sides to feel comfortable with clear expectations before going forward with booking.

Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
