Where most say cats are tricky and stubborn, I've always thought maybe they're not giving them a chance. I certainly don't just warm up to someone I only just met, why would they. Once you do have them relaxed around you, they can give dogs a run ... Hi, my name is Brandon. I grew up with cats, and other animals (shocking amount of iguanas), but mostly cats.
Where most say cats are tricky and stubborn, I've always thought maybe they're not giving them a chance. I certainly don't just warm up to someone I only just met, why would they. Once you do have them relaxed around you, they can give dogs a run for their money on loyalty and understanding space.
Currently there is an old finicky lady name Jasmin who lives with me. She does her thing, I do mine, and we still hangout. Especially after dinner, its tie between she wants love or her tumny is full and to please rub it.
Whatever you choose to do, follow your instincts. Rarely will they stir you wrong.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I've been cat sitting off and on most of my life. At 44 I have animel sat for friends, family, friends of family & friends since I was 20. Cat sitting out of all feels like breathing air.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Something that is a benefit, I am born and raised here. My family are all over the Bay Area. So pretty much all holidays, even the big ones I am normally around and available.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
With cats who are far more nervous of you than you are of their claw, the most important thing is to pay attention to their body language. A hiss doesn't mean you'll never be friends, it simply means "back off, not right now." Remember, you're a new and unknown presence, and you're much larger than they are. If something as tall as a house was trying to pet you with hands bigger than your head or pick you up, you'd probably be nervous too. Watch how they react when you approach. Do they recoil, run away, hide, or become defensive? Their behavior tells you how comfortable they are and what boundaries they need. In most cases, only get as close as the cat is comfortable with & sit quietly nearby. Sometimes that means sharing the same room or it means staying farther away while they get used to your scent.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th
- September 4-10: Labor Day
- October 9-15: Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day
- November 8-14: Veterans Day
- November 23-29: Thanksgiving
- December 22-28: Christmas
- December 29-31: New Year's 2027

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

San Francisco cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $39.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Brandon watched my silly, loving 18lb cat, Dante, while I was out of town for 9 days. I got regular photo updates that included treat time, playtime and cuddles as well as hilarious narratives of Dante’s behavior. The updates were so funny and sooo true about my sweet little man’s behavioral antics right down to his attempts to break your ribs by putting all 18lbs of his weight on one of his tiny little paws! I highly recommend Brandon. He’s got a great sense of humor that matches perfectly with a cat’s life!
