What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve been pet sitting for 5 years through both platform-based and independent bookings, and I’ve also had cats of my own. Over the years, I’ve cared for cats with all kinds of personalities, from super social lap cats to shy cats who prefer to keep their distance. I’m comfortable with feeding routines, litter box maintenance, playtime, basic medications, and sending regular updates so cat parents can relax while they’re away. My goal is always to make each cat feel safe, comfortable, and cared for in their own home!
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I treat every client’s home and pet as if they were my own. I double check doors and windows, make sure food/water/litter are taken care of, and I pay close attention when entering or leaving so curious cats can’t sneak out. I follow all care instructions carefully and keep cat parents updated if I notice anything unusual. Reliability and attention to detail are extremely important to me.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I let that kitty set the pace. Some cats want attention right away, while others need a little time to warm up to a new person. With shy cats, I move slowly, speak softly, and give them space to feel comfortable. I never force interaction and instead focus on creating a calm environment where they can approach me when they’re ready. I’ve found that patience goes a long way in helping nervous cats feel safe(:

What stands out about Hannah is how naturally attentive she is with cats. She doesn’t simply check the basic boxes; she notices their mood, gives them space when they need it, and is gentle and patient while they warm up. She is very responsible and easy to trust. Hannah has been sitting for me for about 5 years now, and I truly can’t say enough good things about her! She has always been reliable, thoughtful and very caring with my cats Nova and Luna. I don't have to worry when Hannah's taking care of things because I know she’ll show up, follow instructions and treat my cats like family members who really matter to her! One thing in particular that I’ve always appreciated is that Hannah pays attention to little details. She remembers both cat's routines, notices what makes them comfortable and doesn’t try to force interaction if they need space. She’s patient with my shy cat but sweet and playful when they want attention and very respectful of their personalities. She keeps a watchful eye on the practical things, like food, water, litter and if anything seems off. Hannah is also great at communicating while I’m away which is very important to me. Her updates are clear and reassuring and I always feel like my cats are in good hands. It’s obvious that she genuinely cares about animals, not just as a job, but because she really loves them. Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.

San Francisco cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $40.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
