I fully understand the desire to have someone look after your cat/s that you trust when you are gone. I always found it difficult to go out of town and leave my cat. I worried: who could spend time with my cat? Feed my cat? Give them their treats? Clean their litter? Make them feel relaxed?

I have been cat sitting for Meowtel since 2021. :)
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love meeting all of the cute kitties and getting to know their personalities.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
This is a hard question! So many fun, cute and great personalities! One of my favorites, was cat sitting for my neighbor’s older orange tabby cat in his older years. I had the pleasure and honor to watch him in his later years while his parents were traveling. In the morning, I would give him his food, and because he was so dog gone cute, I would also kiss his big orange forehead. After I did this for a few mornings, Jim would push up with is head when I kissed him. I was so touched as he was reciprocating and showing me he liked when I kissed his forehead. He is now passed, but was a true OG cat.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Yes, I have a cat name JJ! He is a found rescue kitty from Oakland and I am so happy he has made his way over to me via a friend!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
If you hire a meowtel cat sitter, you can’t go wrong! :) Your cats will be in good hands! I like when cat parents give me lots of information. I would say don’t hold back. If you have specific habits with your cat, let me know. I am happy to replicate as best I can the care you give your cats.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
My typical process is at the meet and greet, I take notes while the cat parents explains what I need to do. I take notes so I am sure not to miss anything. I also text a day or two before the reservation begins to check in and let the cat parent know that I am looking forward to cat sitting. After the first visit, I give a detailed update about the kitty, what we did, with pictures and videos attached. I also like to reiterate any special requests the cat parent may ask so they know that the special requests are fulfilled and will be throughout the reservation. After that, each day I will send an update after each visit with photos, videos and a little story about the going ons of the visit with their kitty/kitties. :)
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I ensure safety of the cat/s by not letting them outside. I also keep windows and doors closed. When leaving the home, I always triple check that the door/s are securely shut and locked.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes, I am usually available during holidays except Christmas and New years.
What is your favorite cat toy?
I love to sew little pillows filled with catnip. It's fun to see cats just go crazy batting it around! I also love a toy called Go-Go Catcher cat toy from a company called Only Natural Pet Store. Cats love this toy!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
When cats are shy or anxious, and maybe hiding, I like to talk out loud about the things I am doing so they hear my voice as I move around the home doing the cat litter, food, water etc. This way, they know where I am in the home & get used to my voice and presence.. I also like to give cats treats. Sometimes, a few Temptation treats is all the cat needs to warm up :) I will also try to play with them with a wand toy if that interests them. I like a wand toy as it gives the cat space between myself and them if they are shy, but we can start to play together to build camaraderie. I definitely give them their space and don’t force trying to interact with them or pet them. I let them come to me.

Osa was a fantastic communicator while my partner and I were away for a week. We trusted her enough to skip the initial meet and greet and instead just gave her keyless entry privileges. We loved getting daily pictures and stories about our kitties and we really felt like they were genuinely cared for. Osa also went above and beyond with bringing in packages and even our trash cans, which was not originally part of the plan.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

San Francisco cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $40.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Osa was amazing for our eleven day trip. She made me feel at ease at our pre-meeting before the trip, and each day she’d send pictures and videos and just general felt she had things under control. I was worried that Milan wouldn’t warm up to someone else but she played with Milan every day and they got along! Osa filled the auto-feeder and dealt with some surprise ants one day and handled it without a worry. Totally recommend her especially for those first timers that think they can never go out of town for a vacation.

This is my 2nd booking with Osa and like my prior experience, she was super attentive to my cat, Beyoncé. My cat needs a lot of attention, as she has FLUTD and any level of stress can lead to urinary issues. She seemed happy and in good health upon my return. Osa also is very forgiving about my apartment's maintenance issues while I was a away. I would definitely book with Osa again.
