Cat Sitting in Santa Barbara, CA

Hi! I’ve been around cats my whole life and genuinely love getting to know each cat’s unique personality.

Growing up, my family had cats, and I always enjoyed spending time with them—whether that meant playing, keeping them company, or just being a calm presence. About six years ago, I adopted my own cat from a local shelter when he was just four months old, and I’ve been caring for him ever since.

Through that experience, I’ve learned how to understand cat behavior, build trust, and create a comfortable environment for them.

I’m very patient and attentive, and I know that every cat has different needs. Some cats love to play and be active, while others prefer a quieter, more relaxed environment—and I’m happy to match their energy. During visits, I make sure cats feel safe, cared for, and not alone. Whether that’s feeding, cleaning, playtime, or just sitting with them, I focus on what makes them happiest.

What sets me apart is that I’m not just there to “check in”—I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and making sure they feel comfortable while you’re away. Cats tend to warm up to me quickly, and I take pride in being someone they can trust.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes! I have a 6 year old green eyed cat named Pistachio! He’s very loving and kind to be around.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I make safety and comfort a priority during every visit. I approach cats calmly and let them come to me so they feel secure, and I follow their usual routines and preferences. I make sure they have fresh food and water, check that they’re using the litter box normally, and pay attention to their behavior in case anything seems off. I also keep the environment safe by making sure doors and windows are secure. If they’re interested, I include playtime to keep them active and engaged. Overall, I aim to create a calm, safe, and comfortable space while you’re away.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I handle timid or anxious cats with a lot of patience and respect for their boundaries. I never force interaction—instead, I give them space and let them approach me when they feel comfortable. I use a calm voice and gentle movements to help them feel safe, and I often sit nearby so they can observe me without pressure. If they’re open to it, I’ll offer my hand for them to sniff or use treats and toys to build trust gradually. I pay close attention to their body language and adjust my approach based on what they seem comfortable with. Some cats just need quiet companionship, while others warm up over time with gentle encouragement. My goal is always to create a low-stress environment where they feel secure, respected, and in control.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Santa Barbara cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
