Cat Sitting in Littleton, CO

I have been a cat lover & owner my entire life. In addition to owning a four-year-old Ragdoll Siamese mix named Katniss, who I found on the streets in bad shape as a five-week-old kitten and nursed back to health, I help care for multiple feral colonies, have volunteered for various animal rescue groups, run a popular Twitter account for the Coors Field Cats and cat sit for multiple families... I have been a cat lover & owner my entire life. In addition to owning a four-year-old Ragdoll Siamese mix named Katniss, who I found on the streets in bad shape as a five-week-old kitten and nursed back to health, I help care for multiple feral colonies, have volunteered for various animal rescue groups, run a popular Twitter account for the Coors Field Cats and cat sit for multiple families. I am a small business owner, extremely responsible and strive to give your cat the very best attention and care so you can relax and enjoy your time away!

I love taking photos and videos of cats to share with owners as well as providing regular updates on how they're doing - good communication is key!

I live in Highlands Ranch, and typically pet sit here and in surrounding areas (Parker, Centennial, Littleton, Castle Rock, Englewood, south Denver, etc). I have my own business, which I operate out of my home. My schedule is extremely flexible. I am available to cat sit seven days a week, any hours, with almost no exceptions.

Learn More About Shannon

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I've been cat sitting for about 10 years. It started as a favor to a neighbor, who was so pleased with the job I did that she passed my name along to some friends who were seeking a cat sitter. From there requests started rolling in. I loved it so much I decided I wanted to expand into a part-time business, so I joined Rover and Meowtel.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have a nearly six-year-old Siamese Ragdoll mix named Katniss. She was born to a feral colony in north Denver. I rescued her at about six weeks old, and she was in bad shape. I nursed her back to health and very quickly fell in love! (her name, btw, is a nod to the Hunger Games heroine who was also a survivor)

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

ALWAYS do a meet and greet. I have been surprised by the number of people willing to leave their keys or garage codes without ever having met me (I won't do this, btw - I insist on meeting in person before a job starts). Also, leave written instructions for the sitter that detail everything you went over during the meet and greet. These things are easy to remember on the spot but small details can be harder to track when multiple jobs are being juggled.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I am extremely careful about entering and leaving homes. I watch for (and have asked about prior to the job starting) cats who look to dart out the door when I arrive. I also film myself leaving a home at the end of a job, showing the cat or cats inside, and the door being locked and tested. If I see a potential hazard inside the house, I always message the owner to explain what I found and ask what they would like me to do.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Initially, I give them their space so they can get used to my sound and presence. I make sure to lay eyes on them each visit to confirm they are ok, but do not push things the first day. From there, I make eye contact with slow blinks, which is cat code for "I am not a threat". I speak softly and attempt to get their attention with hand gestures or toys moving from side to side. I play birds chirping or cat game videos on my phone to see if the noise may intrigue them. I sit still and see if they will come out and hang with me. This almost always works, and incredible bonds have been formed.

We had Shannon watch our kitties for the first time and she was amazing. she got my shyest cat to come out and play and that’s quite the accomplishment! she was great at giving updates and showing litter boxes and food full.

Everything with Shannon from start to finish was amazing. She is kind, professional, punctual, a great listener, and a cat whisperer! The meet/greet walkthrough before our appointment was great and she paid close attention. Our updates after each visit were very detailed and the many photos and videos of our 3 kitties made us feel completely comfortable that they were safe and healthy while we were away. She took great care of our home and played with our kitties enough to wear them out each day. Her patience showed by her being able to coax even our most shy kitty out to have some treats from her hand. Highly recommend booking Shannon!

S-tier!! Shannon was great with both my boys, and they have very different personalities (one is very shy and one is social). Most importantly, one of my boys has a chronic medical condition and Shannon was super on top of it; very observant and communicative. I was genuinely less anxious knowing Shannon was the one looking after my treasures!

Shannan was absolutely wonderful! She sent very thorough updates each visit and really made the effort to bond with our shy cats. Unfortuately, she had to deal with a few hairballs but everything was spotless when we got home! Highly recommend!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Littleton cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
