I have two lovely cats which has helped me built the experience with all the basics.
I have no issue cleaning all different types of litters, feeding them, and giving medications. One of my cats has asthma so I know how to give nose drops and use the inhaler. I will treat you cat as my own, because I love all cats.

I have no issue cleaning all different types of litters, feeding them, and giving medications. One of my cats has asthma so I know how to give nose drops and use the inhaler. I will treat you cat as my own, because I love all cats.
A 20 minute visit usually goes like this: as soon as I arrive, if your cat is the cuddly type, I will give them lots of pets and attention, most cats I've met are the hungry type so I tend to feed them first, check/change their dry food and water depending on which system you use.
Then while they are eating I will go to clean the litters.
Usually feeding them and cleaning the litter takes me between 12 and 15 minutes which gives me a few extra minutes for playtime, more pets and taking pictures for the cat parent so they know their cat is doing well.
I would recommend a 45 - 60 minute visit
if you have more than 2 cats as their feeding and cleaning the litters would take longer. Also if your cat loves longer playtime or likes people's attention as I would have extra time for more games and pets.
I also water plants, pick up mail and help with any other small errand you might need while you are traveling.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
Definitely playing with them. I love sitting in the floor with them and petting them and if they are energetic I like to tire them out so they then have a nice meal and a nap.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Yes, I have two cats. Their names are Sasha and Lucien. I adopted them with my husband in Alexandria 4 years ago. They have opposite personalities, one loves to be involved in everything that is happening and being pet while Sasha loves her personal space and a calm environment.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
An in person meeting before your trip is an excellent idea. I offer it to all the catparents I visit. It allows them to know me in person before letting me into their house while they are away and also to see how I interact with their cats. Moreover, the most useful thing of those visits is that I get so much information on where you leave the food, cleaning supplies, their hiding spot, how your cats like to be approached, etc. This information usually would be difficult to get through text.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I usually visit them before they go to their trip, in that visit we cover everything on how to take care of their cat. While they are away I send them an update for every visit to let them know their cat is doing well and a few pictures of their cat, taken during the visit.
Are you usually available during holidays?
I will be available for the whole week of Thanksgiving and also for New Year's Eve. I will not be available for Christmas.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
One of my cats, Sasha is super timid and anxious, as well as some of the cats I've visited. I approach them first by being quiet and calm as I know they do not like loud noises. Then I try to get their attention while they are in their hiding spot either with treats or with their favorite toy. If they get close, I let them smell my hands as that usually helps them to build trust. I do this slowly and it usually would take more than one visit for them to want to leave their hiding spot. But I think the key is patience, being calm and letting them approach me slowly.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.

Washington cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $27.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
