I have been a zookeeper for fifteen years, specializing in exotic cats and am currently pursuing my veterinary medicine degree. My first job in high school was working at a domestic cat-only vet clinic and I moved on from there to eventually become a senior wildlife care specialist at a zoo in San Diego. I have raised and cared for a variety of wild cat species (including domestics) from neonates to geriatrics. At home, I have 1 cat: a 12 year old female named Shamu. I’ve owned cats my entire life and am comfortable with just about any cat purr-sonality I’ve come across. You can trust me to care for your cats as if they were my own (my husband cares for ours when I’m pet sitting!). With my combined experience in veterinary and husbandry care, I can handle just about any cat care assignment. I prefer to stay within 5 miles of home, but can branch out for the right family.

Lauren took care of my asthmatic and timid cats during a 2 week trip. This included giving them an inhaler which isn’t the easiest thing to do. She adapted to their responses and was gentle with the cats when they were afraid of a new person, including recommending Feliway to help them calm down. This was my first experience using a catsitter (instead of just friends/family) and I felt reassured and confident throughout the experience. Lauren provided detailed updates throughout the process.

My cats warmed up to Lauren so fast even though they're usually scaredy cats! Lauren followed directions well, and even brought in some packages for me. She even had the idea of hiding some snacks around the house for the boys to find to not be bored. Booking her again for sure!

I wish I could give Lauren 5++ stars. She was everything I could have hoped for and more, from wowing us during the initial visit to priming a perfect home upon my return. Lauren was so communicative, proactive, thoughtful, and nimble throughout her visits - of 7 days! In addition to normal cat needs, she helped my extra needy kitty adjust, and he was so happy and content when I walked in the door upon return. Now Lauren is a lifelong friend. What a gal - and service!

Everything was perfect! Lauren was so amazing and we highly recommend her. She clearly knew about cats - double checking our directions about our cat’s Prednisolone treatment (I had put the wrong dose on my directions) and she asked to clarify. We also received very adorable daily updates!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Gainesville cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $23.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
