Cat Sitting in Kennesaw, GA
Where it all started ❤️
I got my first cat, Cookie, when I was a teenager on a road trip to Kentucky with my parents. She was my soul cat—the kind that runs to greet you at the door every day and gets you through the hardest times of your life. When I was 21 and working at my first clinic, I learned what Fear-Free handling actually was and the impact it has. One of my doctors showed me how to do low-stress handling, and actually listening to what a cat needs. That moment changed everything.
It showed me how misunderstood cats are and how most of the veterinary industry doesn't take time to understand feline needs.
That realization became an obsession. I leaned hard into cat behavior and psychology because I'm naturally drawn to understanding why we do what we do, and cats are the same way. I have a lot of empathy, so it's easy for me to put myself in someone else's shoes, including a terrified cat's... Hi, I'm Sammi. Before you let me into your home to care for your cat, I think you deserve to know who I am and why I'm so obsessed with feline welfare.

I have a lot of empathy, so it's easy for me to put myself in someone else's shoes, including a terrified cat's. I needed somewhere that would let me dig deeper, and that's when I landed at Lifeline Animal Shelter.
I spent five years at Lifeline working with neonates, TNRs, critical care cases, and behavioral cases. My specialty was critical care with bottle babies.
Where I am now 🐱
I am now 36 and I work at Community Cat Clinic, a fear-free, cat-only practice that genuinely prioritizes feline welfare. Working with some of the best feline medicine doctors I've ever encountered has deepened my understanding of how veterinary medicine is evolving.
At work, I'm requested quite a bit by owners specifically because of how I am with fearful, anxious, or reactive cats. I don't push myself on them. I take my time because trust is earned, not given. Some cats are more willing to trust than others, and that's okay—I meet them where they are. Every cat has their own timeline, just like every person does.
🐈So here's why I'm telling you all this:
When I come into your home, I'm not the person throwing down food and leaving. I legitimately care about your cat. I need to know they're okay, safe, and have everything they need. Your cat is depending on me, and you're depending on me, and that responsibility means something to me. I truly care, and this isn't just another side hustle. I genuinely love being around cats.
I know it's scary to have a stranger in your intimate space. I've heard horror stories about cat sitters, and I share that anxiety. That's exactly why I'm meticulous about doing this right.
Communication is everything to me. I'm very big on timing and scheduling to make sure your cat's needs are met and yours are too. I work four-day weeks, so I'm realistic about what I can promise. I don't over-promise and under-deliver. If I say I'm coming at a certain time, I'm there. If something changes, you'll hear from me immediately. I'm always trying to make things better and give advice and tips when I can. If you want someone genuinely invested in your cat's wellbeing, that's me.
What I love about cat sitting is getting to be around people who genuinely love their cats. It's incredible. I see so many people who are so thoughtful and present with their cats, and after seeing so much hard stuff in the world, that kind of love and care is just amazing.
I get to know these beautiful little beings and spend time in a space where someone really, truly cares. That matters to me. Every cat has their own personality and quirks, and I love discovering them. I love helping owners provide better care for their cats by sharing what I know. It makes both their lives better.
When I sit for your cat, I treat your home the way I'd treat mine:
🐱 I bring in mail and packages
🐱 I handle the trash—no stinky trash to come home to
🐱 Light cleaning—counters, sweeping, dishes, so you come home to a tidy space
Because it's not just about your cat being safe—it's about you feeling cared for too. Daily photo updates keep you in the loop. Your cat gets my full attention, and your home gets my respect.
I see so many people who genuinely love their cats, and I enjoy being part of that world. I'd love to meet your cat and become part of your family's routine. Send me a message or book today. 🐾.
😻😻What to Expect After You Book With Me😻😻
When you book with me, I'll send you a message to get started. You can share everything about your cats upfront, or we can keep it simple and get into the details when I come visit—whatever feels right for you. Either way, when I show up for our meet and greet, I'll get to know them in person and you'll see exactly how I interact with them. My goal is for you to feel completely at ease knowing your baby is in good hands.
We will go over a routines and crucial bits of information like hiding spots, where everything's located, etc I do take notes during the meet and greet so I can make sure I have everything marked down. I do encourage owners to also write down a list to leave me mainly because I find that people tend to remember things they forgot if they write everything down.
My Availability
I work from 7:30 AM to around 6:30 PM, sometimes a bit later if there's an emergency or a sick cat who needs extra attention. If I'm running past 6:30, I'll always let you know. I work four days a week rotational) which means I'm not stretched thin—when I'm with your cat, I'm all in. You can count on me to show up on time, be prepared, and treat your baby like they're my own.
Meet my cats and their stories 🥰
🐱 **Athena** is my 15-year-old female tortoiseshell with the tortitude to match, and she has severe arthritis. But more than that, she was my first bottle baby. I got her when she was just one day old at Paws Atlanta, my first shelter job. She was abandoned by her mother, and I knew nothing about bottle babies. Statistically, they have a high fatality rate, and I was hell-bent to prevent that. She went everywhere with me. There's something terrifying and amazing about having a tiny being completely dependent on you, and caring for her taught me what it means to show up completely. That's where my passion for rescue began, and it shaped everything I do.
🐱 **Todd** is my 14-year-old male tuxedo boy. I found him in the rain when he was about six weeks old, covered in sores and fleas, crying under a car. It felt straight out of a movie. He came home with me, and watching him heal showed me why rescue work matters so much.
🐱 **Itty Bitty** is my 12-year-old brown tabby female. She came to me while I was apartment hunting in a not-great part of Atlanta—she was underweight, dehydrated, and clearly needed help. She's thriving now because someone was willing to take a chance on her.
🐱 **Dwight** is my 6-year-old orange tabby male, and he's the reason I understand why people love orange cats—they're hilarious and full of personality. He came to me from Lifeline when he was sick and not eating. Once he bonded with me, he transformed, and I fell head over heels for this goofy boy.
🐱 **Binxs** is my 6-and-a-half-year-old black male. He and his sister were locked in a car by accident, and when the new owner heard them crying, he brought them to Lifeline. Binxs was emaciated, severely dehydrated, with a severe eye infection and upper respiratory infection, lethargic and cold—basically on death's door. It was either I took him or he'd be euthanized. I was his only choice. His sister didn't make it—she passed two hours after we got home—but Binxs fought. He survived with only a severe corneal scar on his left eye. That was my first fever coat case, and it was intense. At six and a half now, he's thriving and the sweetest boy. He's proof that sometimes all a cat needs is someone who won't give up.
🐱 **Sasha and Luna** are both 16-year-old female silver tabbies with hyperthyroidism. They were my partner's cats before we met and mean everything to him. Watching him love these senior girls taught me about showing up for cats through their whole lives.
🐱 **Pepperoncini** is my male Siamese with hyperesthesia who came from a bad situation where he was attacking his family out of fear and stress. I fostered him, but as he bonded with us, we realized uprooting him again wouldn't be safe or fair. He had severe aggression that most people can't handle, and my partner working from home is ideal for him. We couldn't let him go. He's now a cuddle bug with separation anxiety, thriving where he belongs.
But my eight cats are just the beginning. Every cat that comes through my hands gets the same level of care and commitment. This isn't just what I do for a living—it's my passion ❤️
Learn More About Sammi
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
One of my favorite things about cat sitting is watching anxious cats come out of their shell. I've had clients come home to find their normally skittish cat just... relaxed. Hanging out. Maybe even wanting attention. That transformation—knowing that a cat felt safe enough with me to let their guard down—that's everything. It shows that patience and understanding actually work, and it gives owners hope that their cat can be more comfortable than they realized.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Look for someone who communicates well and is flexible. Find someone who genuinely cares about your cat's wellbeing, not just the job. They should be honest, respect your space, and ask lots of questions. During the meet-and-greet, go through your whole routine—show them hiding spots, medications, preferences. Make sure they take notes. Trust your gut, but be thorough. Ask questions, observe how they interact with your cat, and don't assume anything. You want someone who will communicate honestly if something comes up.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
Security is something I take really seriously because your cat's safety is my responsibility. Even if a cat is indoor-outdoor, they stay inside during my visits—that's my standard. I'm meticulous about doors: I close them securely behind me every time I enter or leave, double-check the lock because some can be finicky, and make sure there's no gap where a cat could slip through. I'm also mindful about the environment itself—no strings, small objects, or hazards within reach. I think about what could go wrong and prevent it before it happens. Your home and your cat are secure with me.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I approach anxious cats the way I approach all cats—on their terms. I watch their body language carefully because they're telling me how they feel if I'm paying attention. I respect their space and let them decide when and if they want to interact with me. Here's the thing: sometimes the best way to help an anxious cat feel safe is to not make them the center of attention. I'll be present in their space without focusing directly on them, which gives them time to observe me and realize I'm not a threat. I'll do the feline handshake once—extending my fingertip slowly to see if they're interested. If they move away, that's okay. It just means this cat needs more patience and a little bribery, and I'm happy to give them both. When they're ready, they'll approach. I'll use treats, toys, and patience to encourage that comfort. I have Fear-Free certification,

We truly could not have wished for a better cat sitter! 🤗😍 We were really concerned leaving our kittens alone for the very first time but Sammi just managed to take all our worries away so fast! Sammi genuinely cared about our 2 kittens Sol and Gir and went above and beyond to make them feel comfortable while we were away. Not only did she make sure their water was fresh, that they got fresh wet food and their litter robot was clean, but she took extra much time for play- and bonding time and we loved that. She doesn‘t just complete the to do‘s around them, but truly cares about each of their needs and pays attention to their personality and we valued that a ton! Each day we received so many amazing videos and photos and a detailed update of how they were doing, which was great! 😻 Sammi truly is amazing and we highly recommend her anytime to everyone! We already have future sessions booked with her and we are so very happy that we found her and that our kittens really like her too! ♥️

We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter for Dallas while we were away. Dallas is an older cat with medical needs, so leaving her is always stressful for us, but Sammi completely put our minds at ease. Her updates every evening were thoughtful and detailed, with lots of lovely photos and videos, and it was obvious how much genuine care and affection she gave Dallas. She went above and beyond with her medication, food, litter trays, hydration, and overall comfort, and her vet-tech knowledge was incredibly reassuring as well. We came home to a happy, relaxed cat and would absolutely book Sammi again. Thank you so much for taking such amazing care of our girl ❤️

I was really worried about leaving my cats for nearly two weeks because they both have a bit of separation anxiety and tend to act out when I'm not around. But Sammi was so patient with them and it was great seeing them warm up to her a little more each day. She sent a collage of photos and an update every day so I was never left worrying about them. And I returned home yesterday to two very happy cats!

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!

Sammi was amazing! She was very knowledgeable and made us feel very comfortable leaving our cats in her care. We have 3 cats, two of which require medication. She took the time to make sure she knew exactly what they each needed. We have a senior cat with some arthritis issues, and she kept us up to date on how he was feeling. This is the first time in a while we've gone away and not felt anxious about the care our cats were getting.

Sammi is the best sitter we have ever had. she is not only knowledgeable about the care and personalities of our cats, she is professional and goes above and beyond each time we have used her services. Sammi taught me so much about cats and their care. As a former employee of a shelter that saves thousands of cats, she worked in a stressful environment and approached each day with courage, heart, level headedness, integrity, and was an advocate for these tiny souls. She always did the right thing tirelessly. Her generosity and communication helped me grow as a cat foster. I trust her wholeheartedly as a cat expert and as a phenomenal human.
