What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve been cat sitting for over a year, providing in-home visits throughout Lombard, Oak Brook, Westchester, and parts of Chicago. I’ve cared for cats with a wide range of needs and personalities, from kittens to senior and medically sensitive cats. My experience has included caring for cats with conditions such as ringworm, medication needs, and helping cats feel comfortable while their owners are away. Visits have ranged from quick checkins while owners are at work to longer stays during holidays and vacations. Alongside pet sitting, my experience as a veterinary technician and in animal shelters has strengthened my ability to recognize changes in behavior, follow detailed care instructions, and provide patient, individualized care. I especially enjoy working with shy or “spicy” cats and earning their trust at their own pace.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love earning the trust of cats who are a little unsure of new people. Watching a shy or skeptical cat slowly become more comfortable with me is one of my favorite parts of cat sitting. I love seeing them go from hiding across the room to eventually coming over for pets or playtime. There’s nothing better than feeling like you’ve been chosen by a cat!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

My advice is to look for someone who has both experience and genuine passion for caring for cats. When you’re away, it’s reassuring to know your sitter understands your cat’s normal behavior and can recognize when something seems off. A great sitter should not only provide food, water, and a clean litter box, but also give your cat patience, attention, and individualized care and communicate with you if they notice anything unusual.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I like to start with a meet-and-greet so I can get to know you, your cat, and their routine. I’ll ask about feeding, medications, litter box habits, personality, favorite activities, and anything that may make your cat nervous. I also like to learn what is normal for your cat so I can recognize if something seems off. Once you’re away, I’ll follow their routine, provide plenty of attention and enrichment, and send you photos and updates after each visit. My goal is to make you feel comfortable knowing your cat is safe, happy, and well cared for while you’re away.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes! I’m typically available during holidays and understand that’s when many cat parents need care the most. My availability can vary, so I recommend checking my calendar or reaching out with your dates.
