What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been cat sitting for about three years and regularly care for my relative’s senior cat a few times a year whenever they go out of town. I also cat sit for my neighbor’s senior cat occasionally when they travel. These visits include plenty of pets, playtime, and affection, as well as fresh water, food, and a clean litter box.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes, I have 4 cats at home! Their names are Darcy, Dusty, Thomas, and Rue. Darcy and Dusty are 14 and 13 years old, while Thomas and Rue are both 1.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I try my best to go at their pace. Sometimes this means not interacting much with them during a visit, but I will try to sit or lie on the floor nearby where they are hiding so they know I’m there. If they show signs of discomfort, such as hissing, grumbling, or flattened ears, I will keep more of a distance, as I don’t want to push them or make them feel more anxious. I’ll talk to them, and if permitted by the owner, I will offer some of their favorite treats or try to entice them with a toy they usually enjoy. Patience is key!

Abby was extremely professional and friendly- it’s very clear she has a love of animals! I felt very comfortable leaving her to care for my cats. Cancellation Policy

Cat parents may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a full refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Cat parents will receive a full refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Cat parents will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the cat parent cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
