I love spending time with cats—whether that means lying on the floor next to a bed or couch while a cat hides underneath it, or giving them as much love and attention as they let me. One of my favorite things about cats is their wide variety of personalities and signature behaviors... Hello! My name is Abby, and I am a huge cat lover who is the personal caretaker of four cats. I am an owner of two senior cats and two one-year-old previously feral cats. I have experience giving both topical and oral medications in pill and liquid form.
I love spending time with cats—whether that means lying on the floor next to a bed or couch while a cat hides underneath it, or giving them as much love and attention as they let me. One of my favorite things about cats is their wide variety of personalities and signature behaviors.
I am patient and will never push your cat’s boundaries. I’ll give them as much time as they need to warm up to me, occasionally using treats or their favorite toy as a form of gentle bribery (if you permit it).
I am meticulous and will ensure your cat has fresh water and food, as well as a clean litter box at every visit. I personally prefer to use a broom and dustpan to clean up excess litter on the floor, since my own cats tend to scatter at the sound of the vacuum cleaner. I truly have a special place in my heart for all cats, and I will treat yours with the same love and care that I give my own.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been cat sitting for about three years and regularly care for my relative’s senior cat a few times a year whenever they go out of town. I also cat sit for my neighbor’s senior cat occasionally when they travel. These visits include plenty of pets, playtime, and affection, as well as fresh water, food, and a clean litter box.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Yes, I have 4 cats at home! Their names are Darcy, Dusty, Thomas, and Rue. Darcy and Dusty are 14 and 13 years old, while Thomas and Rue are both 1.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I try my best to go at their pace. Sometimes this means not interacting much with them during a visit, but I will try to sit or lie on the floor nearby where they are hiding so they know I’m there. If they show signs of discomfort, such as hissing, grumbling, or flattened ears, I will keep more of a distance, as I don’t want to push them or make them feel more anxious. I’ll talk to them, and if permitted by the owner, I will offer some of their favorite treats or try to entice them with a toy they usually enjoy. Patience is key!

Abby is amazing!!! She’s just as meticulous and cat-loving as she advertises, and that means the world to me. I have 3 cats, one of whom is very senior, has health issues, and ended up needing a lot more care than she or I expected. She TRULY cares and did everything exactly right. I can’t wait til she comes again, and neither can my precious cats! (except they’d rather have me than have me gone) She is highly trustworthy, and I rate her AT LEAST a 15/10! The reservation went wonderfully. I love how Abby spent time petting/cuddling/interacting with my cat. The bathroom where the litter box is located was clean at the end of the job period and so were the food bowls. Also, the water fountain was kept full. Abby always took time to text and send pictures of my cat after each visit. Abby is an awesome cat sitter.

Abby was extremely professional and friendly- it’s very clear she has a love of animals! I felt very comfortable leaving her to care for my cats. It was my first time having someone I didn’t personally know look after my kitties and was a little apprehensive at first, but her meet and greet visit along with all of her messages put me at ease. Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Palatine cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
