Cat Sitting in Brighton, MA

For as long as I can remember I've loved cats!

Every Christmas I begged Santa for a kitten to show up under my tree, I even did a project in the 3rd grade about cats to prove I was knowledgeable and could handle them. I did end up getting a cat for Christmas one year and she was the best part of my life. Now don't get me wrong all animals are great, but the love and affection a cat can show when they truly appreciate you is one of a kind! Growing up with my cat, Peaches, I learned a lot about cat's behaviors and how to handle them. It taught me that, like us all, cat's need their own space and independence but still love affection and to be cared for.

Once I got older I started cat sitting for friends and family and eventually made my way to work at an animal hospital! This helped me learn that cat's can be weary of new people and need time adjusting to change. While Peaches was very sweet and playful, not all cats will be especially with someone they don't know or if they're somewhere they're unfamiliar with. This has taught me to be patient and work at their pace, not my own.

With time, persistence, and respect most cats will warm up to you! My experience with my own cat and with others has allowed me to handle all situations and tailor each experience to the individual cat's needs and personality.

I'm in the Brighton area and would love to stay closer to home! I'm available all mornings and evenings and some afternoons. I do have some flexibility in my schedule so these aren't set times or hours! To sum everything up I'm experienced and great at showing love and affection while also respecting their boundaries and space. I've love each cat that I've taken care of like they're my own and would love to be able to watch your kitties for you if awarded the opportunity!

Learn More About Alyvia

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

My favorite part is being able to meet so many cute kitties! Each cat has their own personality so it's great to be able to see that and grow a relationship with them. Plus cats are always so cute, it doesn't hurt to have such adorable company!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

There are a few things that I do when I work with a first time client but the one I've found that's most important is a detailed list/schedule. I try to have my clients fill out as much information about their cat's schedule, diet, favorite toys, favorite spots, medications, allergies, etc. This helps me gain trust and build a relationship quicker with their cat while also keeping the cat safe and cared for.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

The main thing a cat needs when warming up to you is patience! Patience is always key and working at their pace will eventually allow them to warm up to you. Some cats do take longer to get comfortable and trust you. Therefore making sure you're respecting their boundaries while also letting them know you're there to care for them, will allow them to slowly warm up to you. Giving some treats and playing with their favorite toy doesn't hurt either!

Alyvia took such great care of my boys! I highly recommend her. She is on time, sends photos and updates and when I get home, the cats are calm and happy. She is also good with attending to any special instructions (I have high maintenance cats!) and my guys just adore her!

Alyvia was so nice and easy to work with. I was a little unorganized because I had been traveling a lot recently and she was very understanding of my hectic energy. My cat loved her and immediately wanted pets and attention when they met. I’ll definitely book Alyvia again. when I need a sitter.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Brighton cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
