I'm Sam and I am a H U G E fan of cats (and all animals)! I've been completely enamored with cats since I was young and have always wanted to work with them. I grew up with a brother-sister duo, one of which passed away last summer after 20 long years 💜 I've also lived with roommates' cats of varying ages (2-3 and early teens), and now have my own 6 yo kitty! 😊
Before Meowtel, I had experiences cat sitting for relatives and friends, and have cared for 5 cats with very different personalities in one home before. I have experience with all sorts of cats, from kittens to seniors, and from shy to friendly to feisty. I volunteered at an animal shelter a few years back and have been at one in Brighton since June 2023, which I absolutely love... Hello!

I volunteered at an animal shelter a few years back and have been at one in Brighton since June 2023, which I absolutely love.
During my cat visits I will:
- Feed as directed
- Refresh and refill water
- Clean the litter box when needed and any additional spot cleaning
- Play with your cat and give them lots of attention and love
- Send updates!
For Medication Experience:
- Medicine in food
- Topical ear ointments
- Inhaler/nebulizer for a very sweet kitty
- Oral Medications - via syringe and via hand, but I have only administered these for a few easygoing gentle kitties - I only feel comfortable doing oral medications for cats who are fairly tolerant as I do not have much experience
My schedule:
- I will be starting a new position as a vet clinic receptionist in late October, which will have a more varied schedule
- I will typically be unavailable from 8:30am-7:30pm or so on weekdays
- I will always be able to do morning and evening visits, but my typical shift will make for later night visits (8pm on)
- I will no longer be able to do midday visits on weekdays, with the exception of 1-2 random days per week (feel free to check with me about this :) )
- I have a car but also use public T in the city.
I am also fully vaccinated and will wear a mask if requested!

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I've been catsitting for a couple friends & family occasionally for many years, but I just started on Meowtel August 2023 :) It's been an absolutely wonderful experience and such a privilege to be able to meet & care for so many purrfect kitties while they're their owners are away 💜
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I've really enjoyed meeting so many different adorable kitties with so many different purrsonalities - and giving them all the TLC they need!
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Toby was my almost 20 year old childhood cat who still lives with my parents in CT (I visit when I can!) - He slept by my feet every night I lived with him for 18 years & he's the reason I know some cats do actually like belly rubs 😂 (he's the gray tabby in my photos) Pączki is my new kitty, the orange and white tabby that will soon be on my profile. I just got him Mid April and am very excited. He's a very sweet and friendly 6 year old boy 💜🐈
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I will always reach out after the reservation is made - I will typically send out a thank you and confirmation message, and then discuss the meet & greet(what to expect and scheduling it) Once that's all set to go, I'll come to the meet & greet and meet you and your adorable kitties and have you go through the care process, as well as ask additional questions if I have any :) (And then I'll send pictures and updates while you're away!)
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I always make sure that outside doors are left closed so no one can escape (as well as locking them). No kitties are allowed outside during my reservations. I make sure not to leave anything like string toys just lying around in case they were to eat them, and am mindful of the cats allergies, former issues etc, and ensure medications are administrated when necessary - if there is any issue /major concern I inform the owner immediately.
Are you usually available during holidays?
I am usually available for most federal holidays, but am always unavailable for some time directly around Christmas, & Easter day. I do keep my Thanksgiving open for clients.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I take it very slow - I typically will let them approach me when they are ready. I may offer my hand for them to sniff if they are accessible, or offer a treat, and will often talk to them softly to get them more accustomed to me. Eventually most cats I've met have come out (at least if it's a longer booking) - I've only met one who never wanted to say hi so far!

Samantha went above and beyond for my kitty. While I was gone, my cat decided to stop eating and drinking. Samantha was immediately responsive to my concerns and helped to being him to the vet where he was able to receive a little additional care. She was able to accomdate the timing of an emergency vet appointment and even continued to monitor him following. I was very reassured that my cat was under her excellent care and was a huge relief to me that she was able to bring him to seek medical attention when I was thousands of miles away. I highly recommend Samantha to anyone considering - she will take care of your cat like it is her own!

Sam did a wonderful job! She handled our cats’ nutritional & one cat’s medical needs, and took care of anything that came up (we asked her to investigate the stool situation & she created a Google docs poop log!). Our adjusted cat seemed relaxed and happy (other than that he couldn’t go out!) & our introverted cat acclimated well. Sam was very communicative & sent lovely daily photos that put us at ease. On our return both were fine; the thin cat gained some weight & the chunky guy had lost some, so this was a win-win! Sam has a calm, rational approach and attention to detail. She is able to assess what is needed and prioritize. She was so helpful to us as our cat’s medications have made travel a challenge. This was our second time using Sam and we look forward to having her responsive and responsible care again!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Brighton cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

Samantha was such a great cat sitter. Both my old man cats were taken care of very well by her. They both gave rave reviews (when I came back they hardly blinked an eye which tells me they were happily cared for). I was nervous to leave them as I haven’t in several years due to pandemic and then relying on family to care for them. One of my cats is a little grumpy and the other is sweet and has medical needs. Samantha took great care of them, sent photos and updates and I never worried. She let me know what was going on with them-the good and anything out of the ordinary. Sam did an AWESOME job taking care of our kitties for a week! We were nervous leaving our cats as we had never been away from them for so long but she made us feel confident that they were in great hands, and because of that we could relax on our trip. She was consistently on time, very kind and friendly, and asked great questions during the meet and greet. Her updates were thorough and thoughtful, and she sent multiple pictures each time which we really appreciated. She even sent pictures of our pet snake, which not everyone would do!! But it was an extra step that showed us she really cared about our pets. She went above and beyond and I could tell that our kitties, especially our skittish young cat, loved her. Samantha was very good with my sometimes shy cats. She was great with sending updates and that gave me feel all right about being far away.

Sam is amazing! She took such good care of our babies, our plants and she even took in the mail! We hired her for 10 days and she was communicative and caring. She has a warm and gentle demeanor-just purrfect!
