What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I am currently in my first year of sitting, and I love being a Meowtel cat sitter! The experience has been highly rewarding. I truly enjoy giving cat parents the peace of mind that comes with knowing they can rest assured their cat will be treated like one of my own. I also love meeting so many different cats, and I have definitely developed a special bond with each and every one of them!

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

It's definitely the bond I develop with each cat.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

My wife and I share our home with 4 rescues. Two black cats, Midnight and Luna, and Captain and Calypso who are litter mates. We have also fostered several cats through Guardian Angels Cat Rescue in Waylan MA. Throughout the course of our 17 year relationship, we have shared our home with a total of 8 rescues and 3 fosters.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Cat safety is always my highest priority. One of the very first things I always look out for are the present or possible dangers lurking about. Are there doors or windows they could escape from? And how easily could they do so? Are there any objects in the house that could present a danger? Loose wires or plastic bags they could become ensnared in? Are there any poisonous plants, or other unsafe items they could accidentally consume? How secure is the stovetop? These and any other issues I find will always be addressed with cat parents before or during a reservation.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Gentle, quiet movements, slow eye blinks, and a calming voice. I always let a timid cat come to me first. My most recent cat, Luna, was practically feral when I first saw her. She had been abandoned and was living in the woods for months. It took several weeks for her to trust me, but through slow and steady progress, one cold dark night after feeding her, she slowly approached me, sniffed my hand, and fell purring into my lap. I almost cried with happiness!

Mario, aka Meowrio, was Sylvester's amazing Manny! As an experienced proud dad of 4 fluffers, he didn't miss a meow on what to do. We received daily pictures & updates. He meticulously cleaned the litter box, ensured there were ice cubes in the water and adjusted the AC during a heatwave. Meowrio groomed him daily. Even knitted a sweater!😹I'm kitten you about that last one, but I'm sure he could have! He's a great communicator and very detailed. Sylvester is encouraging us to go on another vacation soon so he can hang out with Meowrio again!😻

Mario was an amazing cat sitter for our two cats while abroad on vacation. His attention to detail and care for them was above and beyond! We had painters in our house while away and Mario left notes to remind the crew to keep inside doors open so that the cats would have access to the whole house. His updates always included photos and a recap of events - and he spent extra time with our cats so they felt loved. I would recommend Mario to anyone looking for exceptional care. We will absolutely be looking to use him again!!!

Mario was fabulous with my three cats! He is a fabulous communicator, arranging the right time to be at the house. He sent great updates, kept an eye on the state of the boxes and fountains and even watered my outside plants during a heatwave. He is also personable with the cats and did his best to charm them out of their hiding places when he was at the house. I will definitely have Mario come check the furkids again!

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.

For reservations where each visit is at or above $20 and paid for through Meowtel, your cat(s) will automatically be covered under our Meowtel Protection Plan in the event that things don't go as planned.
