What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been caring for kitties and puppies since I was 9 years old (with my Mom's supervision). We had a job week when I was in middle school and I chose to work in a veterinarian clinic. I wanted to become one when I grew up. I've been a full time professional sitter since 2016.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love all ages of cats but truly cherish time spent with senior cats. I especially enjoy winning over a shy kitty's affection. And I really feel special when a cat is comfy enough with me to curl up in my lap and fall asleep.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

There was a senior cat named Spiffy back in California where I used to live. I dropped in on him a lot so we were good friends. He just loved to chat! He'd meet me at the door and tell me all about his day as I cleaned his food and water bowls and scooped his litter box. Once those were taken care of it was time for what he really enjoyed, being brushed and cuddled on my lap. He'd just purr like crazy and then crash out.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

If I was hiring I would want a sitter that asked thorough questions during the meet and greet and who respectfully introduced themselves to my kittie.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I like to spend a good half hour or so to make sure I'm ready for any contingency such as knowing where carpet and upholstery cleaner and rags are in case of stomach upset. This time usually gives the cat time to relax and get used to my presence and approach as they are comfortable with.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I carry a large purse so I can block the door as I enter just in case the cat is a darter. At the meet and greet I like to find out if there are areas that are off limits and I ensure those doors are secure. When performing my visit I like to do a once over checking cords for signs of chewing and table tops for frames or lamps that might have been pushed to the edge. When leaving I usually toss a toy away from the door so I can slip out or I use my purse to safely exit.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes I'm happy to care for your furry friends during the holidays so you can travel and visit family. Or jet away to some exciting adventures!

What is your favorite cat toy?

I like the little crinkly balls of foil type paper or the plastic springs, those are usually a big hit.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I give them their space and don't further stress them by approaching before they're ready. I'll usually sit on the floor a safe distance away and talk to them so they get used to my presence and voice.
