What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been cat-sitting for about four years now through word of mouth, and I believe in collaboration with owners to ensure the best possible care for their fur babies. During this time, I’ve cared for cats with a wide range of personalities, needs, and routines (from energetic and playful to shy or senior), all of which require extra patience and attention. I take the time to understand each cat’s unique habits, preferences, and any medical or dietary needs to ensure consistency and comfort while their owner is away. My goal is always to create a safe, stress-free environment where cats feel secure and well cared for, giving owners peace of mind knowing their fur babies are in reliable and compassionate hands.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I enjoy meeting different people and helping out in any way possible. I have a passion for caring for others, and I am grateful that cat-sitting allows me the opportunity to continue doing so. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know I can provide owners with peace of mind while giving their cats the attention, companionship, and care they deserve. Also, I enjoy building trust with both cats and their owners!
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have two cats of my own who are a big part of my life! Lucy is my eight-year-old female American Shorthair, and Luka is my two-year-old male Ragdoll–Maine Coon mix. Caring for them every day has given me hands-on experience with different temperaments, energy levels, and care needs. Lucy is more mature and set in her routine, while Luka is younger and more playful, so I’m very comfortable adapting to different personalities. Being a cat owner myself helps me truly understand how important it is to provide attentive, loving, and reliable care for every cat I look after.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
I’d recommend looking for a cat sitter who feels reliable, easy to communicate with, and genuinely interested in your cat as an individual. Every cat is different, so it really helps to find someone who takes the time to learn their routine, quirks, and any special needs. It’s a good idea to ask about their experience, how they’d handle an emergency, and how they’ll keep you updated while you’re away. Getting regular updates and photos can make the whole experience so much less stressful. If you can, set up a quick meet and greet beforehand. It’s a great way to see how your cat reacts and make sure you feel comfortable too. At the end of the day, trust your gut. You want someone who makes you feel at ease and who you can trust to care for your cat like their own.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I make safety a top priority for both your cat and your home by sticking to your routine and paying close attention to the little details. During each visit, I’ll be sure to send updates with photos, videos, and messages so you can relax knowing how everything is going. I make sure your cat is fed, has fresh water, and gets any medications they may need. I also keep an eye on their behavior so I can catch anything out of the ordinary early. I’m very mindful of safety. I never let cats outside, and I always double-check doors and windows before I leave. I treat your home with respect, keep things tidy, and make sure everything is secure when I go. My goal is for you to feel completely at ease while you’re away.
Are you usually available during holidays?
I’m usually available during holidays. I know that’s one of the busiest times for pet owners, so I try to keep my schedule as open as possible to help out. That said, I do recommend reaching out in advance since holiday spots can fill up quickly. I’m always happy to work with you to make sure your cat is well cared for!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I’m a very patient person, and I allow anxious or timid cats the time they need to acclimate without adding stress. I respect each cat’s autonomy and believe trust should be earned, not demanded. I follow their lead when it comes to boundaries, letting them decide when and if they feel comfortable approaching. I focus on creating a calm, predictable environment, minimizing sudden movements, and respecting their need for space. By prioritizing safety, consistency, and gentle interaction, I help build confidence at the cat’s pace.

Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Elkridge cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Alaina took care of our two kitties for a whole week during the summer. She provided daily written updates about how they were doing and what she did for them. She provided numerous photos and videos which helped put me at ease. She provided based care (checked feeders, water, and litter boxes), playtime, pets, and even handled giving medication to one of my cats. He requires a daily pill which he does not always do well when receiving. Alaina certainly charmed him and gave him his pill wonderfully every day. I highly recommend Alaina to anyone looking for someone to care for their kitties. We will be booking Alaina again for our next trip.

We’re so happy we found Alaina! You can tell she loves animals, and takes pride in her work. We were nervous about leaving our kitty, but she definitely put us at ease. She sent lots of updates, including pictures and videos, and our kitten looked like she was having a blast. Alaina also went out of her way to clean up any messes Genie made AND brought additional toys for her to enjoy. Alaina is a beautiful soul, and we would definitely rebook with her in the future! Our kitten loved spending time with her!

Alaina was absolutely amazing! She took care of our three cats 2 seniors and 1 wild Maine coon kitten. She did such a good job even my husband said our cats would be cool if we never came back lol Her communication and updates went above and beyond, very detailed. The actual reservation went very smoothly. Alaina couldn't have been more professional in responding quickly and following up to make sure the meet and greet date and time were on schedule. The meeting was great too. We had no reservations about having our kitty kept happy while we were away. The daily videos and photos were precious and much appreciated.
