Cats have a special place in my heart, because of their independent and intuitive nature. Since I was young I had a natural affinity for cats. I begged my mother persistently enough to get one. In his later years, my cat was diagnosed with diabetes. During that time I learned how to distribute medication to kitties through shots and pills since I had to administer his insulin and other important medication. After my cat passed, I found joy in being able to cat sit for friends and family. I also nanny part-time with seven years of experience and offer pet-sitting services to the families I nanny for... Hello! My name is Sofia, and I am a law student in Baltimore. As a Baltimore native, I am familiar with both the Baltimore City and County areas. I also grew up exploring and frequenting the DC and NOVA area since I have family there and worked for many different non-profit organizations in the area.

I spend most of my free time volunteering with different organizations in Baltimore, in undergrad I was president of our NAACP and SOUL chapter.
Every family is different, which is why I value taking an individualized approach for each kitty depending on their specific needs, personality, and quirks. A lot of my work experience involves customer service which has given me the ability to learn clear communication and detail-oriented precision. To me the most important aspect of cat-sitting is listening to, and honoring whatever is personally best for you! You are the expert of what works best for your kitty, and it is my job to ensure that is honored in order to best care for your cat whenever you need.
COVID-19 can be a relevant and valid concern to different families for various reasons. I have no issue with wearing a mask to protect your family and your cat. If you prefer for me to wear a mask during the meet and greet and visits please let me know when booking. I am vaccinated and double boosted, but just for safe measure, I am available and willing to do a test before interacting with your kitty. Whatever COVID-19 procedure is preferred will be followed.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
The thing I love most about cat sitting is spending time with the kitties. I also enjoy providing the level of service and communication that gives cat parents the peace of mind I would want if someone were watching my pet.
Are you usually available during holidays?
I am typically available during most holidays. I always offer a full schedule during Christmas.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Cats are very emotionally intelligent animals. They often know what is best for themselves when it comes to situation and attention. The most important step in handling an anxious cat is to follow the advice of the owner as they are the experts of their fur babies. In addition I typically carry on with the feeding and cleaning routine to let the cat come to me when they are ready. I find that the more you let the kitty have their space, the less anxious they become, and the more likely they will come out and meet me!

Our shy kitty became friendly with very quickly, which has been a struggle for us with other pet sitters in the past. Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Parkville cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Sofia was great with our cat! Our kitty is pretty particular, but Sofia took on all her quirks and specifications with a smile! She was particularly diligent with our cat’s food schedule, which is prescribed and pretty rigid. All in all, we loved her and felt so relaxed on vacation! We would definitely hire her again.

Sofia took amazing care of our cats during our vacation. She was super communicative, had great attention to detail (incredible considering there are four needy cats), and we felt totally comfortable and confident knowing they were in her care. She even made sure to find and check on our shy guy so even though he wasn't super social with her, we still knew he was all good. 10/10 recommend!

Sofia was amazing every step of the way! I was a little nervous about leaving Kirby to a petsitter because he isn't used to being alone for long periods of time and he's had some stomach issues recently but Sofia was perfect for our needs. She followed my instructions perfectly and even went above and beyond. She was very communicative throughout and gave good updates every day. And Kirby loved her so that's a huge positive! I can't say enough good things. I don't know the next time I will need petsitting services, but when I do Sofia is definitely my first choice!
