What sets my service apart is my expertise in medical pet sitting. As a seasoned veterinary technician, I specialize in caring for cats with unique needs—whether they're recovering from surgery, managing medical conditions, or requiring specialized attention. Administering medications, handling injections, and providing gentle care are second nature to me.

Beyond technical skills, my approach is defined by my warm, calming energy. I've often found that even the most shy cats tend to gravitate towards me, allowing me to quickly establish trust and ensure their comfort while you're away. I am also Fear-Free certified: The Fear Free certification allows me to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress, and improve your cat's emotional well-being during veterinary care and home care. Your cats will receive not just care, but genuine love, affection, and a sense of security with me.

My own two cats, James & Ophelia, are both adored rescues. I take great pride in being entrusted with the well-being of your cat. Rest assured, they'll be in capable and caring hands, receiving the same level of attention and love they're accustomed to in your absence. I look forward to providing a nurturing environment for your cats and granting you peace of mind during your time away!

Learn More About Kelly

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I've been cat-sitting since I was a child for all of the neighborhood cats! In high school, I joined the Michigan Humane Society as a foster owner for cats and kittens, many of whom were sick or required lots of TLC and socialization before becoming qualified for adoption. In college, I joined the veterinary field and kicked off my pet-sitting career on a much larger scale. In summary, I've been caring for others' pets as if they were my own for over 10 years.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

By far, the furry friends made along the way! My favorite thing is when I receive random messages from past or current clients, telling me that their cat misses me. I truly love every cat like they are my own, and I absolutely love receiving photos and updates on them throughout the years.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

My favorite cat-sitting reservation was for Sesame, a one-year-old Ragdoll cat. Her owner discovered that she was terribly sick with a life-threatening disease, and he wasn't confident that he could handle her at-home treatments on his own. What started as a one-time consult to teach him how to administer Sesame's medications turned into a 3-month booking. I visited the home daily to provide the necessary life-saving medical treatments. Today, Sesame is cured, healthy, and happy. I still visit her often - just to sip coffee with her owner while Sesame is purring in my lap. I feel incredibly honored to have played such a crucial role in saving her life after a heart-crushing diagnosis. We established an incredible bond and I will always adore her.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

My two cats are James and Ophelia! - James is a brown tabby, a rescue who came from a horrific animal hoarding situation. He was very sick and entirely terrified of humans when I rescued him at 1 year old. Today he is the most outgoing, loving, teddy bear of a cat I've possibly ever known. - Ophelia is a lynx-point Siamese. I found her as a stray kitten at just 5 weeks old, with no mother or littermates in sight. She was a very feisty, wild kitten until I won her over. Today she is my little shadow and such a blessing in my life.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Trust is everything! Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions, request references, or even set up in-home cameras while you are away to ease your worries.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I offer meet-and-greets at no cost so that you, myself, and your cat(s) can get acquainted. After confirming the dates, I will ask about your cat's daily routine, personality, diet, and any medical requirements or concerns. I also ask if there are any household duties you'd like me to handle while you are away - such as taking out the trash, watering plants, or collecting packages and mail.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

As a cat owner myself, preventing escapees is second nature to me! I am always diligent about making sure no cat slips out the door, ensuring windows are secured, and doors are locked upon my departure.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Since I don't have much family in Michigan, I almost always spend my holidays caring for animals. It truly helps lift my spirits!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I am Fear-Free certified, which allows me to reduce or remove anxiety triggers that can cause cats to become fearful. I have a warm, calm energy that cats naturally gravitate toward. I speak softly, move slowly, and allow cats to approach me on their terms.

This is the second time we’ve booked Kelly for some daytime visits and I have nothing but wonderful things to say!! One of our cats is very skittish but warms right up to her each time she visits 🥰 She’s very thorough in the visit updates she sends and we love getting photos and videos of the cats having fun with her!! It’s not often we need a cat sitter, but Kelly is always at the top of our list!

We were away for 10 days and during that time our cat developed a UTI and needed medication we did not have. Kelly was able to pick up the medication and administer every day while we were gone, as well as all other normal responsibilities. She is the only person we trust with watching our pet and would recommend her to anyone!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Auburn Hills cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
