Cats have been part of my life on and off since I was 16, and I’ve had three of my own over the years. I love that every cat has their own personality, from the outgoing ones who want to be involved in everything to the shy or independent ones who need a little more time and patience... Hi! I’m Sheila, an experienced cat sitter and longtime cat enthusiast. I’ve been professionally caring for pets since January 2023, and I’m excited to bring my experience specifically to cat parents on Meowtel.
Cats have been part of my life on and off since I was 16, and I’ve had three of my own over the years. I love that every cat has their own personality, from the outgoing ones who want to be involved in everything to the shy or independent ones who need a little more time and patience.
I’m dependable, attentive, and detail-oriented when it comes to following your cat’s normal routine and care instructions. If your cat wants affection, playtime, and company, I’m all in. If they’d rather observe me suspiciously from across the room until I’ve earned their approval, that’s perfectly fine too. I believe in meeting cats where they are and never forcing interaction.
During visits, I’ll make sure your cat receives attentive care in the comfort of their own home, and you can expect thoughtful updates and plenty of photos while you’re away. My goal is to keep your cat safe, happy, and comfortable while giving you peace of mind knowing they’re in experienced and caring hands.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
What I enjoy most about cat sitting is getting to know each cat’s unique personality and earning their trust. Some cats are ready to be best friends the moment you walk through the door, while others make you work for their approval. I enjoy both. There’s something especially rewarding about the moment a shy or cautious cat decides you’re someone they can trust. I also genuinely enjoy giving cat parents peace of mind knowing their kitty is happy, comfortable, and getting plenty of attention while they’re away.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I like to learn as much as I can about a cat’s normal routine before the first visit, including feeding, litter box habits, favorite toys and hiding spots, medications or special needs, and what kind of interaction they typically enjoy. I also make sure I understand the home routine, emergency contacts, and any special instructions. During visits, I follow those instructions closely and send updates and photos so you can relax knowing how your cat is doing.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I let the cat set the pace. With timid or anxious cats, I keep things calm and predictable, give them plenty of space, and never force interaction. I’m happy to sit quietly nearby and let them observe me until they feel comfortable approaching on their own. Earning the trust of a shy cat can take patience, but that makes it especially rewarding when they finally decide I’m okay!

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Dearborn cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $27.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
