What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I've been a cat sitter for about six years now. I've taken care of kittens to seniors. It started with me sitting my family's cats, then it extended to my friends.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
The cats!!! I love learning about a cat's personality, their habits, and quirks. Taking care of them is something I genuinely enjoy and love to do.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have a cat named Lilly who I've had since she was a kitten, and she's now 15 years old! My roommate's cat Beans is a year old. I love them both so much!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Look for someone with good reviews, has experience with your age range of cats (especially if you have kittens or seniors), and is reliable. Try to meet the sitter in person first to get a read on them, and see if they interact with your cats well.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I always ensure that the front door closes behind me, as well as any other doors that lead to the outside. If I've opened windows (some cat parents like this if the day is nice) I make sure they're closed when I leave. I also double check that all outside leading doors are locked, and that any other doors required to get into an apartment complex (front door of the building, a gate) also close behind me.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I give them space. If they want to come to me they will - I'm not going to force an interaction. I will offer my hand for sniffs, but if they react negatively I will back off. With timid kitties, I find it's best to sit near them and relax so they can get used to me.

Cosmo took wonderful care of our cat, Daisy while we were away. Communication throughout the reservation went absolutely above and beyond, even when internet/cell service on our end got sparse. Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Kansas City cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
