Loving Full-Time Care For Your Kitties

I'm Carolyn

Cat Sitting in Saint Louis, MO

Hi there! I'm Carolyn, and caring for your pets is my passion! I've been independently full time in the industry for the last 4 years. I have 2 kitties of my own (Nelly-very orange, and Benji-thic momma's boy) and can't get enough of them!

I love all kitties, but shy babies are my specialty! I have several clients who literally only come out for me and their parents, and it's the biggest compliment in the world to be chosen by them❤️. I never pressure kitties to interact with me and go at their pace. I'll take care of food/cleaning dishes/scooping boxes/etc first so they have time to get used to my scent, and then the rest of the time is up to them!

I'll happily play for the rest of the visit if they want, or if they just...

I'll happily play for the rest of the visit if they want, or if they just want cuddles/pets/brushing that's fine too! If they're not comfy enough yet then I'll just quietly coexist near them (at a non-threatening distance) and speak softly to them on occasion, offering treats if allowed. I'll also play calming music from my phone or on the TV to help kitty feel less stressed by the new person in their space.

I try to also make kitties feel a little more like someone is home in small ways- alternating lights on/off each visit, setting a timer for the TV with stimulating cat TV/nature sounds on for a bit after I leave (or calming music if your kitty might try to get the birds on the screen like mine lol).

These are all general guidelines but please let me know what your individual kitty likes! I'm happy to accommodate whatever makes them happiest while you're gone, and can come by 1-3x a day for your kitties. My orange kitty has to eat 3 small meals a day or she will scarf and barf it right back up, and also needs a slow feeder, so I'm used to special dietary needs and happy to accommodate whatever set-up you have!

Learn More About Carolyn

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I've been pet sitting and walking dogs full time professionally for the last 4.5 years both via Rover and private bookings. Before that I was the sitter of choice for friends/family's kitties since I "get" cats more than the average person and can accurately follow special directions for them.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Probably an obvious answer, but the kitties! They're such unique creatures, and I love figuring out their little quirks and personality traits. Even when they're pretty hyper, I still find hanging out with kitties to be very calming. I also really enjoy how grateful clients are for just doing a good job- a lot of sitters out there are "dog people who also watch cats" and just fill food bowls/scoop litter then play on their phones or leave visits early, and that's just neglectful. Not everyone understands that cats are also social creatures and need stimulation, so I love being the person that exceeds expectations!

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I've only seen this particular kitty twice now since his mom isn't out of town often, but his name is Kurt! His mom initially said I "probably wouldn't see him" during the booking but I've heard that before so I had hope! She did mention he loves being brushed, and that was basically all I needed to win him over! He was still a lil shy when I got there on the first day, but she showed me where to look for him and I sat on the couch after doing his food/water/litter where he could see me. I grabbed the brush and he basically came right over- after that he would come out the moment I walked inside and meow at me for attention! His mom was so amazed too since he's never come out for any guests she's had, only her. And he's been soo affectionate since!

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes, their names are Benji and Nelly! I talked about them a bit above, but Nelly is extremely orange- we have to keep the trash can outside or she'll find a way into it (or just shred the bag if she can't crawl inside), and have a weight on top of the dog's food bin to keep her out of it! She's only 7lbs (concentrated mischief), loves to scream, and gets very sweet and snuggly at night/in the sunlight. Benji is a 12 pounder, and has never met a stranger. He wants to lay on/be pet by someone at all times, and is surprisingly the picky eater of the two. It's especially a struggle getting him to eat wet food! He used to be an indoor/outdoor barncat, but has acclimated maybe a bit too well to his cushy house cat life!

This month

Carolyn is very communicative, takes lots of pictures and video so I know my babies are happy, and is proactive with great initiative (turns on ceiling fan if the room is warm, brings in packages f ty on outside). Above all, she is so loving with my sweeties, and ensures my special needs kitty gets all the right meds.

Carolyn went the extra mile with my 3 cats. She is the only sitter I’ve had who made an attempt at finding my 2 shy cats. She was super communicative throughout the process. 6 stars would be more accurate.

Carolyn went absolutely above and beyond, taking the time to get to know each of our little guys. She sent regular pictures of the boys, as well as their food, water, and litter, which kept our minds at ease. They both loved her, even our shy baby was rubbing on her and happy as a clam. Couldn't recommend her more :)

Carolyn is great. She is reliable and kind. My cats are very shy around people and they were not scared of her at all. I had a very positive experience using the website. I will definitely use the booking service in the future.

Carolyn was excellent! This was the first time we had to leave our two senior cats for a extended time since they've started new twice daily medication. Carolyn did a great job communicating, getting to know our cats, applying medicine timely, and taking great care of our kitties! Very appreciative for her detailed communication and asking questions on their care. Would definitely book with Carolyn in the future!

Carolyn was absolutely amazing! I would give her 10 stars if I could. She was super easy to work with, very communicative, and took wonderful care of my little fur baby while I was out of town for the week. She kept me constantly updated with pictures, which gave me so much peace of mind, and my little guy really took to her. I’ll definitely be a repeat customer!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Saint Louis cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
