When caring for your cat, my priority is to maintain their regular routine as much as possible. During my visits, I ensure they have fresh food and water, a clean litter box, and plenty of opportunities for play and affection based on their individual preferences. I am also able to administer medication as needed... Hello! My name is Therese and I have loved cats ever since I was a little girl. Growing up, I did not have any cats but I always bonded with them. Now, I am a proud cat parent myself, to my beloved Velvet! I have done many cat sitting assignments over the years, which prepared me to take care of her.
When caring for your cat, my priority is to maintain their regular routine as much as possible. During my visits, I ensure they have fresh food and water, a clean litter box, and plenty of opportunities for play and affection based on their individual preferences. I am also able to administer medication as needed. I send regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind knowing your cat is happy and well-cared for. I will treat them with the same love and attention I give to Velvet!
I have always connected with cats, and my experience as a cat parent to Velvet has further developed my ability to provide exceptional care. I'd also be happy to schedule a Meet & Greet before any assignment to ensure it's a good fit for everyone!
**Note: If you are looking to book a reservation with me a couple of months out and it shows me as "unavailable", please check with me first. I typically set my schedule for 90 days. Also, around the holidays, if I show as unavailable, you may still ask, as I can probably fit you in if you are nearby another assignment or my home.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been with Meowtel since July 2025 but have done cat-sitting for friends and relatives for 20+ years. I also have a cat of my own, so that has given me plenty of experience as well!
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I thoroughly enjoy cat-sitting! I love getting to know each cat's purr-sonality (pun intended!) and spending quality time with them. I don't like to just scoop the litter box, feed and leave. I like to engage with cats by petting them and playing with them.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
It's hard to say! I've had so many wonderful assignments taking care of the sweetest kitties! I have especially enjoyed Bella, Paisley, Rumi, Pavlov, Simba & Muffin, Meeps & Dax, Leo & Lana, Elliot & Nala, Hazel & Zoe! I love them; they're so fun and adorable. We always play and they follow me around everywhere! We bonded instantly!
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Yes! I am the proud cat parent of Velvet! Velvet is my baby girl! She came into my life in November 2018, shortly after she turned a year old on October 12th. She has middle name...Rose. I called her Velvet Rose one day after I shortly adopted her, and it stuck! Sometimes I call her Velvet Rose when she gets into mischief! Ha!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Open and clear communication is key! Be specific about routines and your cat's personality and preferences. I have found that written notes help me to retain information better, and I leave a Cheat Sheet out for people who watch my cat when I am away!
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I always like to have a Meet & Greet appointment before I begin my assignment so I can meet the cat(s) and the cat parent(s). I think this meeting will help us determine if it's a good fit. This meeting will help me get acquainted with the cat(s), especially if they have special needs.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
For the cats: * Knowing their habits: Before the cat-sitting begins, I'll ask about the cats' typical routines, including their feeding schedule, favorite hiding spots, and any areas that are off-limits. * Emergency contacts: I'll always have the owner's emergency contact information, as well as the vet's details, readily available. * Monitoring their health: I pay close attention to the cats' behavior, eating habits, and litter box use to ensure they seem healthy and happy. Any unusual changes would be immediately communicated to the owner. * Secure feeding/play: I ensure food and water bowls are secure and clean, and that toys are safe and appropriate for the cats. * For the home: * Understanding security features: I'll familiarize myself with the home's specific security features, such as alarm systems or unique lock mechanisms, as instructed by the owner.
Are you usually available during holidays?
For the most part, yes, I am available during holidays when I am in town. I will plan accordingly.
What is your favorite cat toy?
My favorite cat toy is the laser pointer! Velvet, my cat, loves it! She gets so excited and it is hysterical watching her chase after the red light!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I let cats that are timid or anxious approach me on their terms. I speak in a soft, gentle voice. If there is a particular toy that the cat likes, I will use that toy to build rapport. I patiently wait.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Saint Louis cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Therese has pet sat for our dog and two cats for many years when we lived in St. Louis. We could go out of town with peace knowing our pets were in excellent care. Maria is a very shy cat. She feels very comfortable around Therese. That says a lot for Maria as she 99% of the time hides. Now that we live in Jacksonville, FL when Therese visits the pets become excited. Ella likes to hang out with Therese in her bedroom and just loves when Therese does treat time each night. Tux loves to head bump Therese. Maria even jumps up on her lap when sitting on the couch. I think Therese is the only guest we have that she does not hide.
