What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been cat sitting for over 15 years and have been a cat foster parent for 8 years. In that time I have cared for hundreds of cats with a vast range of characters - including cats with cancer and cats with the highest energy levels that require intense play.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Getting to take care of someone's cat is a privilege that I take most seriously. My favorite part is providing companionship while a pet parent is gone so that the cat does not have to be lonely. I love the variety of this service and that I get to meet so many lovely cats!

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

My favorite cat sitting experience was the time I had the pleasure of caring for client's triplet Siberians. They are high energy cats that can be very shy at first but will refuse to leave your side once they know you. I regularly cared for them throughout my early pet sitting career and they taught me many valuable skills.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Make sure to discuss their experiences to see what is relevant to you and address any questions you have. There are a lot of awesome sitters out there who can still be a bad fit for a cat parent, so don't be afraid to say no if it just doesn't feel right!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

It's important to me to take the time to get to know a little bit about them, including what they like to do for fun and how they became a cat parent! This means I ask many questions in the beginning, but it makes for a better ongoing relationship over time.

Are you usually available during holidays?

My availability books up quick during the holidays, so if I'm unavailable it's almost certainly because I'm booked, not because I am not available for pet sitting in general. Holidays are one of my favorite times to sit because it gives pet parents the chance to fully relax and take a break from life while knowing their pet is well cared for.

What is your favorite cat toy?

This is so hard! There are all these amazing toys out there now that cater to a wide variety of needs. I think my favorite would have to be the complex cat towers or the treat puzzles.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I make sure to chat with their pet parent about how they like to be introduced to new people first. I use that information plus my experience with foster cats to make sure that they feel like they have the space they need to come check me out. This usually means moving slowly and staying low to the floor.

I was anxious to leave my cat with someone other than friends and family for the first time, but I immediately knew from our interactions that Irene would be the perfect sitter to trust. They were extremely thorough in their preparation questions which showed me how much they care. They sent updates (including photos) before, during, and after their visits with my cat. Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.

We are proud to provide each of our independently-contracted Meowtel cat sitters with the full benefits of our Meowtel Promise on eligible reservations. For reservations where each visit is at or above $20 and paid for through Meowtel, your cat(s) will automatically be covered under our insurance policy in the event that things don't go as planned.

If you are not fully satisfied with your sitter after the Meet & Greet or during the reservation, please call 1-844-636-9835 so we can help you re-book with a new sitter to ensure we can deliver on our purrfect hospitality promise.
