Now I am loving on cats by fostering for a local rescue and offering sitting services. I have experience sitting for friends and family, and I am building relationships with local cat lovers who need a trusted caregiver. Having hired a cat sitter for my own ... For decades, I was a cat mom to a beautiful pair of kitties (June and Mia) who we adopted from the animal shelter.

More about me: I work in the natural resources sector and care about animals and wildlife. I always had cats growing up and can’t imagine life without cats. I have seen a lot of different cat personalities and at times had cat health conditions to monitor. I take the privilege of caring for your cats seriously!

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love meeting so many different cats and appreciating their unique personalities. They may come running to greet me, and perhaps want to play. Sometimes they prefer a little time to be cautious and check things out first. I enjoy discovering what their favorite toys are. If they like to hang out after feeding time, that’s when they might sit on or near me, and I enjoy relaxing with them! Most crave face and neck scratches and I am happy to give them as many as possible.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I take detailed notes and make myself a step-by-step guide that I follow on each visit. I don’t rely on memory to secure the home or to provide individual care for the cats. Safety and security is not an afterthought. Alarms, door codes, lights, keys, and doors being completely shut are crucial to the safety of the home and the cats.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes, I am usually available during holidays! I prefer to travel during less busy times, so I tend to be home.
What is your favorite cat toy?
Wands are my favorite cat toy because they can move a lot and many cats are drawn to them. I can connect with a new cat most often through play, and a wand toy is good for adjusting the intensity and style of play to what the cat shows interest in and what is appropriate for their age and health.

Julie did a super job for us. It's very obvious she loves cats, and she took the time to get to know Joy Belle and Ethel - and she played with them on every visit! I could tell she had picked up fur off the floor because the floor was clean when we returned! The litter boxes were in good shape, and the cats weren't hungry.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Matthews cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
