Learn More About Min

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I've been cat sitting for 15 years, and it's a genuine passion of mine. Cats have always held a special place in my heart. Over the years, I've learned to understand their unique personalities and needs, making each experience fulfilling. Whether it's administering medication, engaging in playful activities, or simply providing a comforting presence, I take pride in ensuring that every cat feels loved and cared for. My approach is to treat each cat as if they were my own, which has led to many happy clients and purring felines. It's not just a job for me; it's a joy and a privilege to look after these wonderful creatures.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

What I enjoy most about cat sitting is the opportunity to connect with these often misunderstood creatures. Many people think cats are aloof or indifferent, but in my experience, they are simply misunderstood. Cats crave love and attention just like any other pet; they just express it in their own unique ways. When I cat sit, I get to see the different personalities and quirks of each cat. I love gaining their trust and showing them that they are safe and loved. It's incredibly rewarding to see a shy or anxious cat gradually come out of their shell and seek out affection. Each purr, head bump, and contented nap on my lap is a reminder that these beautiful animals just want to be understood and cherished. Being able to provide that love and care is what makes cat sitting so special to me.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I adopted a wonderful friend named Wilson when he was four weeks old. I met him when I was 11, and he passed two years ago. He was my best friend, and I miss him every day.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

When hiring a cat sitter for a shy and easily frightened cat, choose someone with patience and experience with timid animals. Ensure the sitter understands that gaining the cat’s trust takes time and gentle, consistent effort. Look for a sitter who asks detailed questions about your cat’s behavior, preferences, and triggers. It's crucial that they respect your cat's space and don’t force interactions, allowing the cat to approach them on their terms. A good cat sitter should be calm, quiet, and attentive to subtle cues, creating a safe and stress-free environment. Checking references and reviews can also help you find someone who has successfully cared for shy cats before. Ultimately, the right sitter will prioritize your cat’s comfort and well-being, making the experience as smooth as possible for your feline friend.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes I am! I live in my dream city, which keeps me here 365 days a year.

What is your favorite cat toy?

Definitely a cat wand with a nice fluffy, feathery bird at the end. Although our friends tend to like the box it comes in… more toy for the butler.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Handling timid or anxious cats requires empathy and gentle body language. I create a calm environment, minimize noise, and move slowly to avoid startling them. I give them space, allowing them to approach me when ready. My body language is non-threatening: avoiding direct eye contact, using soft tones, and often sitting or crouching to appear less imposing. I use treats and toys to build trust gradually, respecting their boundaries and never rushing interactions. This patient, empathetic approach helps even the most anxious cats feel safe and start to relax.

Min is wonderful! This is the second time she has taken care of my cat. He doesn’t warm up easily to people, and with her it was different. I’m truly impressed by the care and attention she showed to earn his trust. I always receive photos and updates that reassure me I chose the right person to take care of him.

Would 1000/10 recommend Min to any cat parent. My cats are my life and I was so anxious leaving them for a week because they are around 12 and 15. One is literally a crotchety grandma. Min is calm and reliable from the first meet and greet. She handled the two idiot personalities like a pro- playing w my orange one and giving space but love to the grandma. The grandma also needs daily meds (which was my biggest worry). Min was amazing - going from pill pockets to voluntarily crushing the pills into churu for easy access for Yuna when she hid during visits… not to mention the myriad of tasks due to different medical conditions/prescription foods (dry and wet), litter boxes, and our medicine cooler…by the end, Min had charmed over both the fur babies ❤️ Prompt responses + tons of photos/videos in her updates making it clear that the two spoiled brats are getting the best care while we were gone. From the videos, it looks like she is playing w the babies all through the hour! ☺️ We came back to 2 happy furballs and I am already excited to travel again!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
