I’ve been caring for cats for over 30 years, both as a lifelong cat owner and through dedicated cat sitting for friends, colleagues, and clients. I’m comfortable administering oral and topical medications, maintaining detailed feeding routines, and ensuring litter and home care are handled thoughtfully and consistently. My experience has taught me how important patience and calm energy are, especially for cats who take time to warm up. Providing steady, attentive care is something I take seriously and genuinely enjoy.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

What I enjoy most about cat sitting is getting to know each cat’s unique personality. I love observing their subtle quirks — the way they communicate, play, or quietly seek connection in their own time. There’s something special about earning a shy cat’s trust or maintaining a steady routine that helps them feel secure while their person is away. I also appreciate the peaceful rhythm of in-home visits and being able to provide calm, attentive care in a way that truly supports both the cat and their owner. It’s meaningful to know I’m helping create a low-stress experience for everyone involved.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

When working with a new cat parent, I like to begin with a meet-and-greet whenever possible. This gives us a chance to review your cat’s routine, feeding schedule, litter preferences, medication needs, and any behavioral quirks or sensitivities. It also allows your cat to become familiar with me in a low-pressure way. Before visits begin, I confirm all care instructions in writing, including your preferred veterinarian and emergency contacts. During each visit, I follow your established routine closely and provide thoughtful updates with photos. Clear communication, attention to detail, and respect for your home are priorities throughout the process.

Kate is an excellent cat-sitter & I would happily have her care for my kitty again. She cat-sat & house sat for two weeks in my New Paltz home with my senior kitty who has multiple health issues requiring special medication & a multi step process for feeding. Upon return, my kitty was happy, faring well, & my home was very clean & well cared for! My houseplants were also doing great! I definitely recommend hiring Kate to care for your fur-babies.

Cat parents may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a full refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Cat parents will receive a full refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Cat parents will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the cat parent cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
