Making sure they have everything they need like yummy food, fresh water, and lots of play time. I love to see what each cats personality is like and then spoil them with what they like. One of the things that I value is knowing how to work with cat’s nervous systems so that they feel secure and I do that by sensing their emotions by what clues they give me when I first meet them. What I observe helps me to see where I can help encourage them to feel more relaxed by giving them what they need. Like if a cat is rubbing on me then I know they feel safe and that I can find some toys and play with them. But if they are hiding they may be fearful and I know to give them their space and let them relax before asking them to do anything else that would push them too fast out of their comfort zone.

I am new to cat apps but I have been cat sitting for friends for over 8 years now and possibly even longer than that.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love all cats and I just like making them feel loved and at ease while their owners are away. And to provide them with some entertainment so they can have fun.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

My favorite cat reservation was one where this female calico cat didn’t like strangers coming over so she would run out to eat but then go back under the bed afterwards. But the time I was there she hopped up on my lap and purred and let me pet her for a long time before she got down. And I was so happy to see her open up and trust me the way she did. She was a very brave cat and I loved that.

Laura was great with my somewhat neurotic fraidy cat Charlie. She got him to appear, play, and even get brushed! Truly a miracle! It gave me a lot of peace to know that Charlie knew he was loved and cared for while we were away.

Laura was fabulous! Our cat is unpredictable and can be aggressive. Laura was able to get our cat, Beau, to play and purr! and sent videos every step of the way. Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.

All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.
