I'm Hanna

Cat Sitting in Pittsburgh, PA

Hi, I’m Hanna! I am new to Meowtel but not new to cat sitting. Cats are a huge part of my life, and I understand and appreciate that every cat is unique. I have decades of experience caring for kitties and I love giving cat parents the peace of mind that their babies are safe in my care. I believe that cats tend to be most comfortable in their own spaces, which is why I offer drop in visits in your home. I look forward to learning about your cat(s) and what I can do to help them feel relaxed during our sit!

I have experience caring for cats of all ages, from bottle kittens to super seniors, and cats with a range of temperaments and levels of socialization...

I have experience caring for cats of all ages, from bottle kittens to super seniors, and cats with a range of temperaments and levels of socialization. Additionally, I am comfortable providing medications and have calmly handled medical emergencies.

I love and respect cats and genuinely treat clients' cats like my own. I carefully follow all instructions and ensure that your kitty is getting everything they need. I pay close attention to their habits (eating, drinking, litter box) as well as overall demeanor to identify if anything seems out of the ordinary.

Cats are often creatures of habit and I like to maintain their normal routines as much as possible while also providing fun and stimulation. Keeping feeding routines the same, playing with their favorite toys, and hanging out/spending time with them are all ways I accomplish this.

Please note that I do not service the entire 15237 zip code and typically focus on the southern portions only.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I started cat sitting when I was a kid and now have decades of experience caring for cats. Cats have always been and will always be a part of my life.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I know how scary it can be to leave the care of your cats to someone else, and I genuinely enjoy being able to give cat parents the peace of mind that their babies are safe and taken care of in their absence.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have four cats! Two boys and two girls. They are Dobby, Scout, Sally, and Linus, and they are truly my babies.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

The safety and well-being of the cats in my care is my top priority. I am diligent about carefully opening doors, ensuring that they are closed and locked behind me, and always making sure I visually see a cat during drop in visits (this can be tough with skilled hiders, but I always try when possible).

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Drop ins with anxious or timid cats are actually some of my favorite visits. For me, it's all about allowing the cat to get used to my presence at their own pace. I will often bring a book with me to these visits and spend time simply sitting on the couch reading. While it may not seem productive, it is actually invaluable time for the nervous kitty to get used to my smell and my presence while learning that I am not a threat. I also utilize strategies like slow blinking, talking softly, and positive reinforcements such as toys or treats, all at the cat's pace and comfort level.

Hanna was good to our cats, even with them both being skiddish. She even found their newly established hiding spots. She's was patient in administering our one cat's oral medication.

Hanna was so great with my young, energetic kitty! It was my first time away from home since adopting her from a bit of a rough start in life. Hanna sent lots of photos of them playing and snuggling, so I knew she was okay and being taken care of by someone who knows kitties! 💕

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Pittsburgh cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $27.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
