What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
What I enjoy most about cat sitting is the opportunity to build unique bonds with each cat, discovering their individual personalities and quirks. I love the moments of playfulness when they chase after toys or engage in curious exploration. Providing companionship and care allows me to create a comforting environment for them, which is rewarding. Additionally, witnessing their trust grow over time and knowing that I'm helping both the cat and their owner feel at ease is immensely fulfilling. Each cat has its own charm, making every sitting experience a delightful adventure.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Yes I do! I share my home with two sweet kitties! Penny, my fluffy 5-year-old long-haired tabby who’s the queen of the house, and Elli, my playful little tuxedo kitten who keeps us all on our toes. They’re total opposites in personality, but the best little duo. 🐾💛

When working with a new cat parent, I typically start by having a friendly conversation to understand their cat's specific needs, habits, and personality. I gather essential information such as dietary requirements, medical history, and any behavioral quirks. Next, I discuss routines, including feeding schedules and playtime preferences, to ensure consistency. I also address any concerns the parent might have and provide tips on cat care and bonding activities. Finally, I ensure that both the cat and parent feel comfortable and confident moving forward, establishing open lines of communication for any future questions or support.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
To ensure the safety of cats and the home while cat sitting, I assess the environment for hazards and create a safe space with essentials like food and water. I stick to their routines for feeding and playtime while monitoring their behavior closely. I secure all doors and windows to prevent escapes and familiarize myself with emergency exits, ensuring a safe experience for both the cat and the home.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Old Hickory cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!

Bobbie has taken care of our cats twice now and each time she does she is amazing. we have 6 hooligans to look after and Bobbie is very detail oriented making sure all the cats needs are met. My furry babies are my children and when I travel, I am always worried about them. No matter who I choose to take care of them in my absence I will worry. I choose Bobbie because her fee was reasonable and affordable and best of all, her profile said she would send pictures. It’s a small thing, but it is a huge thing for me to keep my anxiety at bay. I received pictures everyday! There was a small hiccup that was able to be fixed and my babies were still safe, fed, clean litter box and clean bowls everyday. She sweeped up all the excess littler and my girls got their full playtime! I was shocked my oldest baby girl came out to greet Bobbie everyday and even hung out a little bit. My parents have not seen my oldest cat in eight years. That means there is something about Bobbie that made my oldest comfortable enough to make an appearance. That also helped ease my mind. If my furry baby girls like you then you are good with me too. I would use Bobbie again and I would recommend her to anyone looking for excellent cat care while you are away.
