What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I find a lot of joy in the small moments, like a shy cat slowly warming up, a playful kitty bringing out their favorite toy, or a relaxed cat curling up on me. 😻 I also love providing updates and photos during my visits. Every time I’ve been on vacation, I’ve thought “I wonder what my cat is doing right now.” I don’t want you to wonder! So, I’ll document everything that me and your cat did together, that way you are fully in the loop on what is happening at home. I love giving cat parents the opportunity to enjoy their vacation, and having the peace of mind knowing that their cat is taken care of.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Find someone you feel comfortable trusting with your pet and your home. A good pet sitter should be reliable, communicative, and attentive to your pet’s needs. Don’t hesitate to ask questions about their experience, routine during visits, and how they handle different situations. It’s also helpful to choose someone who takes the time to learn your pet’s personality, habits, and comfort level. Every cat is different, and a thoughtful sitter will adjust their care based on what helps your pet feel safe and relaxed.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
My main approach is patience and respect for their comfort level. I’m coming into their home and interrupting their usual routine, and I understand that can be scary for them! Cats typically feel safest when they can move at their own pace, so I never force interaction and allow them to take the lead. I’ll greet them by first getting eye level with them, usually by kneeling down or even getting on the floor. And then, I stick out my hand and allow them to come to me. If they aren’t interested, I give them space, move calmly, and let them come to me if or when they feel ready. Sometimes that means simply sitting quietly nearby so they can get used to my presence, speaking softly, or offering gentle play or treats if they seem up for it.

Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
