My name is Patty, and I have been a cat lover/owner for over 55 years! My first cat was Tinkerbell, a shelter cat my parents adopted for me on my 7th birthday. And that was the start of my official cat-loving life as Tinkerbell was followed by 6 others! That being said, there has been only one 3 month stretch when I was without a cat. Currently, my husband and I have a 15 year old Tuxedo named Happy or Hap for short.
I love the laid-back attitude of cats and their ability to decide when and who they will befriend. I also respect that each cat has his/her own personality and will decide when he/she is ready to approach a new person... Labor Day weekend is fully booked!

I have had experience tending to cats who need to take oral and topical medicines as well as finicky and shy cats. In the past, I volunteered at a local animal shelter where I was responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the animal habitats as well as feeding, exercising and entertaining the 'guests'.
As a recently retired teacher, I am interested in working on my own schedule doing something that would give me the satisfaction of helping out as well as the opportunity to meet new folks and other folks who love their cat as much as I love mine!
I have been fully vaccinated/boosted for COVID and will adhere to any masking or COVID protocols as requested by a client.
I am available both weekdays and weekends. I will be responsive to client questions and requests and will love your cats as much as you do.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
In November 2025, I will have been working for Meowtel for three years. What has impressed me most about the company is their responsiveness to sitter questions/needs and their thorough vetting process. Based on my experiences from the sitter side, I know that I and other sitters can provide excellent service because we are so well supported by Meowtel.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
During a meet and greet, I typically listen to the client’s established routine as they explain it while taking notes on my phone. Once they have explained their desired caretaking methods, I then read back what I have written in order to verify the information is correct after which I explain how I will work with their kitties: litter, food, playtime and numerous pics!
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I am mindful of a client’s cats, home and overall security. If a particular kitty is hiding, I always let the client know if their cat has not appeared during a reservation. During a meet and greet, I typically ask about favorite kitty hiding places. Regarding home security, I never disclose that a client is not home during the reservation period. I always lock doors both while I am in the house and of course upon departure.
What is your favorite cat toy?
My favorite cat toy is the laser pointer that my cat loves although I always reward him with something tangible as I know never catching that dot must be frustrating!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Cats have their own timeframe for developing human ‘friendships’, so I know that some kitties will prefer to hold back just as some will follow me around and chat for the duration of the visit.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Glen Allen cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

This was the first time I had used a cat sitter instead of just friends or family, and with Patty, I'm not sure I'll ever go back. She was great to work with, accommodating, and my shy kitty was weirdly very affectionate and playful with her (she has that cat magic!)
