What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have many years of experience living with and caring for cats, making feline companionship second nature to me. Having had cats all my life, I deeply understand their unique behaviors, needs, and quirks. From nurturing kittens to caring for senior cats with special needs, I’ve handled it all—feeding schedules, litter box maintenance, administering medications, and providing enrichment through play and affection. While I’ve always been a devoted cat guardian, I’ve also offered cat-sitting services informally for friends, family, and neighbors. My years in customer service have honed my reliability, attention to detail, and ability to adapt to different feline personalities, ensuring every cat I care for feels safe and comfortable.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
When friends ask for advice on finding a cat sitter, I always recommend looking for someone who not only has experience with cats but also understands their unique personalities and needs. Trust and communication are key—make sure you choose a sitter who is reliable, attentive, and open to staying in touch while you’re away. I also suggest providing detailed instructions about your cat’s routine, food preferences, and any health concerns to ensure a seamless experience. Lastly, always trust your instincts and choose someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with cats and respects their space and boundaries.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
When handling timid or anxious cats, I take a slow, patient approach, allowing them to feel in control of the situation. I start by giving them space and allowing them to come to me when they’re ready, avoiding direct eye contact which can be intimidating. I speak softly and move slowly, letting them adjust to my presence at their own pace. Offering familiar scents, like their owner’s worn shirt or bedding, can help them feel more comfortable. I also stick to their regular routine as much as possible to create stability and reduce stress. With gentle reassurance and respect for their boundaries, I build trust gradually. And of course, I keep the environment calm, quiet, and free of sudden movements or loud noises that might add to their anxiety. Every cat is different, so I adapt to their needs, ensuring they feel safe and cared for during my visit.

Curt is exceptional. this is the 4th or 5th time he has helped me out. This time was for almost 2 weeks. I have a cat war going on so one is isolated from the other 2 - complicating everything. Curt took care of it all. I have a digital lock so I can see how much time he spent with the fur balls. he doesn't just feed them and clean the boxes (I have 6) he hangs out with them which is comforting when you are away for a longer stretch. Curt genuinely cares and does everything that he says he will do. Sadly I need to rehouse the one of my 3 and Curt's cat network is helping with that too. I'd really like to see him get the top rating and get more clients.

Round 2 with Curt. Yet again another great job. His communication was excellent and he takes extra care with my fur family. He even tidied up a few glasses that were by the couch so the cats would not push them over. I will be certainly using him again in the future if he is available.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.

Portsmouth cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $33.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
