My best friend in the whole world is my 9 year old fluffy girl, Freya.

It’s not an exaggeration when I say I am obsessed with cats. I adore them, I want to pet them all (consent required), and I go on walks in my neighborhood with the intention of socializing with as many cats as possible.

I am well-versed in their behaviors and needs. I have cared for big, small, young, old, needy, and cats that required care from a safe distance. I will treat your kitties like family and engage in playtime and meow-y conversation. Rest assured, your feline companions will be very well cared for with me.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

My favorite cat sitting reservation was very recently, and it wasn’t even booked primarily as a cat sit. My job was to check on the cats in their room (basically their own studio apartment) a couple of times per day. Inside I found three very, very sweet kitties who were just a joy to be around. One of the cats was very old - so old the owner lost track of the age but stated she was well into her 20’s. Surprisingly she didn’t require any special care, but she is blind and deaf. It was obvious that she could tell when someone entered the room, but just wasn’t sure where. It absolutely warmed my heart to see her look around, meow when I touched her, and then purr when I pet her. It brought me so much joy to bring her some peace in her mature years.

Are you usually available during holidays?

I try to make myself available most weekends & holidays, since that is when people typically need care for their pets!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

It really is a case by case basis, but many cats form trust around food. If the cat is just timid, but clearly friendly, usually I’ll sit on the floor with them, introduce my hand for smelling, and then maybe a toy. Then I’ll feed them, and if they’re still nervous I might try tossing a little treat their way. When I’ve dealt with aggressive/territorial cats, I usually toss treats or kibble from a distance. And just go about my duties without giving them any attention at all. Making them comfortable to my presence without forcing any interactions. Over time, they come accustomed to me, and the aggressive behavior usually stops.

My cat doesn't like any one and has never warmed up to my family and friends that used to take care of him when I travel. He warmed up to Megan pretty quickly. He came out of his lil kitty condos to eat wet food and play with toys and his laser pen. He was actually excited to see me when I got home. That has never happened in his 15.5 years with me. He's typically mad, sad and sulking when I get home. Megan checked in daily, all 10 days, and sent pictures and videos too. I loved the communication and updates and everything about how Megan took care of my old boy! I travel a lot and I will be hiring her every time I travel! I highly recommend her!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Vancouver cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
