What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been cat sitting for family and friends for years, and have experience with all kinds of cats! I do very well around cats and cats seem to do very well around me! I'd call myself a cat whisperer for sure!

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love meeting new cats. Each cat has their own unique personality and I love learning about them! Cats have always been my favorite and I want to be able to guarantee a safe time for them while you're away, just like I want for my fur baby!

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have one cat! Her name is Nutmeg, she is a Persian mix, and I absolutely adore her! Shes definitely a little spoiled, but a very happy kitty!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

When looking for a cat sitter, definitely choose one you are comfortable with because cats can pick up on your energy. Even nervous and anxious cats calm a little bit when their owner is calm and have good energy!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

When working with a new cat parent, my goal is to make the process as simple as possible. I will ask lots of questions about your cat, including dietary, energy level, temperament, etc. to get the best idea of who your cat is. I will always do a meet and greet, and I like to tell cat parents that the cat should choose who is looking after them, and who they are most comfortable with!

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I always double check that all windows and doors to get outside are locked. I do a quick scan of the area to make sure nothing can be ingested, such as plastic, strings, etc. And I make sure there is nothing the cat can get into.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes I am usually available during the holidays! It is rare if I am out of town for a holiday

What is your favorite cat toy?

My favorite cat toy is definitely a string toy, or anything to get a cat to chase the toy. It's super fun to see their antics and they get good exercise too!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I always let the cat come to me. During a first visit, where I'd like to meet the cat so they can get to know my scent with their parent still around, I like to leave a cat toy that has my scent so the anxious or timid cat can get used to my smell before I come by myself. I like to get on the cats level, either sitting or laying down, so they don't perceive me as a threat, and just allow them to come to me in their own time.
